Forums - Sales - Will Halo Wars continue the trend?

Neither Recon or Wars will continue the trend. Halo is getting old. It was supposed to end with 3 and now they are just beating a dead horse.

My most anticipated games:  Whatever Hideo Kojima is going to do next, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Gran Turismo 5, Alan Wake, Wii Sports Resort.  Cave Story Wiiware.

I kinda see where your going with that post. But to be honest, it might not bring in new comers but it is indeed satisfying the Halo fans.

I remember awhile back people were saying Halo 2 was good and I started hearing Halo is getting old. But behold us Microsoft released Halo 3 and the hype was there. Halo 3: Recon will do awesome and sell well just because its name and its an expansion of the Halo universe.

When Microsoft begins letting other developers take control of the series, thats when it becomes a dead horse. Until then, Halo Wars is going to satisfy those RTS/console owning fans and Halo 3: Recon will satisfy those Halo, Halo 2 and Halo 3 fans.

No more than 800,000 first week I would say. Still, really good for a console RTS.

I guess you could say that it is a dead horse...if it hadn't sold a bizillion copies at launch.

The Halo franchise still has tons of life left in it.

Halo Wars however, is a bit iffy. If they can pull of a coup and transition millions of FPS gamers into RTS gamers, sure, it will sell, but I really can't see this happening. I would think there would be a much larger audience for it on the PC, only problem is, most Halo fans are console players.

In the Halo universe perspective, Wars is pretty interesting since it takes place 20 years prior to Combat Evolved. So that's a lot of back story for those who are into it.

Recon is the game that has me interested, and I was extremely underwhelmed by Halo 3. Since you're not role playing a walking tank in this one, I'm assuming the FPS game play will be considerably different.

I was going to say the same thing, I thought he was flaming for a minute but oh well. He still doesn't understand why Halo is one of the best selling franchises of all-time.

I expect it to sell well since it is part of the halo franchise.

LOL this comes from a guy that claims that  in future PS3 games will destroy the opposition: GT 5, FF XIII (In Japan), GoW 3, MGS4 to name a few are all brand new?

On topic: Halo Wars are made by Ensemble Studios and they do know how to make epic RTS's (AoE I&2, AoM) so this will be a good game. I dont expect sales to be as high as Halo but it should do very well. The only problem is that RTS's do not seem to be designed for normal controllers (Wii on other the other hand is perfect for it)
