Forums - Sales Discussion - What constitutes a "Month"?

Just wondering what the general rules are about how you determine which weeks are part of a given month and which weeks are not?

Just wondering because I have put a spreadsheet together and I need to know so I can properly allocate sales to a given month...

I have been using the simple rule of "the last day of the week determines the month it is attributed to". Please advise...

bump...nobody knows???

Its broken down into a number of whole(full) weeks. It will either be 4 or 5 weeks.

Not sure what "day" it is, but the number of weeks will be determined by the number of Fridays(?) that are present in the month.

June had 5(?) - 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th

July gets 4, etc.

(again - not sure what day it is, but Friday works for June/July...).

I believe it's much simpler that that.

every month is 4 weeks, except the last of any quarter (March, June, Sep, Dec). As well as that, every once in a while there's an extra 5 week month (which happened this year, hence January)

At least, I'm pretty sure that's how NPD does it. Anyone have any objections?

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

omgwtfbbq's sounds like it would be the one used, especially by NPD and such.

My guess (until that post) would have been the set of weeks that have at least 4 days in that month (ex: January 28 - February 3 would be January, whereas January 29 - February 4 would be February). But that gets messy.
