Forums - Sony - Square Enix givin the PSP sum Lovin' and givin the PS3 sum hatin?

I wouldn't really put too much weight on the PSP vs. PS3 comparison; Agito and PE were both cellphone games, and if that deal had never fallen through they would still be cellphone games. PSP was a second choice, not the first one.

End result though, SE didnt wanna wait for the Cellphones therefore making them PSP Exclusive. thats why it still stands imo that Square favors PSP over the PS3 when it comes to Sony Products...

@makingmusic: Hmm, getting the next FF iteration along with the next FF sidestory and a whole new RPG is what you call showing no love? What else do you want?

Let them finish those games first, obviously after releasing FFXIII in Japan, SE wont be able to renounce to the PS3. In fact, I expect 90% of all the upcoming home console games made by them to end up in the PS3. Once they released FFXIII there's no going back. Also they are making bundles with Sony like the FF:ACC one.
They're also working on Rapture, a MMORPG.

If any console is lacking love from SE that's the Wii, which will obviosly won't get more than the scraps or Spin-offs from them.

That's what I meant :P

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

PSP is way more popular in Japan. Nuff said.

True, but i wouldnt mind a Dissidia: Final Fantasy HD remake title for Download on PSN for PS3 with online mode and more characters, cant be that hard to do right?

I't can't really be compare since one is a handle and another one is a console.

SE really needs to make some Wii announcements soon. They really risk getting left behind in their own country.

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Not really DS is enough, and if they wanted to make there games 3D (Which they are) thats why they obviously flock to the PSP rather then the Wii, since PSP takes less time and has better overall results. i also think Sony has something to do with it to but meh.

SE won't make any decent announcement for the Wii at all. Never.

DS is enough as Seraphic said. Though I disagree that PSP would sell more copies of a huge game than the Wii. It's SE loss to hate the Wii and not support it. Maybe they want to turn into a handheld/HD company. But bankrupcy will always be around the corner :)

I really don't think Square Enix can afford to ignore console gaming like you suggest. And for a Japanese dev, that makes the bulk of its sales in it's home country, it's hard not to acknowledge what's happening. Japanese dev's are shifting to the Wii because the other two consoles just don't have enough of an instal base. The Tenchu series, the main Tales series, Monster Hunter and numerous other Japanese franchises are going Wii bound. And the gap is only growing wider. Square Enix initially had great success with Dragon Quest swords, but since then they seem content to just let the console market pass them by. I think that's really going to hurt them.

Lol, true i didnt mean the sales in general though, i mean its easy to make games for handhelds then it is for consoles be it the Wii or the 2 HD consoles. i think it would go like this as an example.

Example...

Dissidia: Final Fantasy for PS3 125% to long to make and costly.

PE for X360 80% to long and costly.

Final Fantasy Agito XIII for Wii 50% to long and to costly.

Final Fantasy Agito XIII, PE, Dissdia: Final Fantasym, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII and all of the above/Etc from square Enix for PSP 20% to long and "LESS" costly. with a large install base in both US and Japan.

So thats my 2 cents on a few reasons why Square is Favoring the PSP overall then the PS3 and so forth. of course excluding the DS because like we said its getting its good amount of fairshare games without the need to worry what PSP is getting so yeah.

What i DONT understand though is why Square Enix and Sony wont let games like Crisis Core or Dissida be up for Download and Install at the PSN for PS3 in HD Form with Online Play and a few more other bonus things perhaps like trophies or more characters? more places to go to perhaps? i dunno weird...

True to some extent, but Alas when it comes to Square Enix they seem to Favor the PSP and X360 now an days, and i guess they even favor the PS3 over the Wii since atleast PS3 gets one exclusive from them which is versus, i only know of one Wii exclusive Square game but its not to huge so i wont even mention it.
