If you look at the bottom of LBP and Gears 2 review pages you'll find the following message.

This is a gaming community, and if people want to stuff the ballot box, there's not much I can do at this point. When we upgrade the registration requirements for participation on the site in the near future, this type of thing won't happen. We'll post the full legitimate user reviews upon the game's release. It's great that they are gonna fix the problem in the future but it sounds like they won't fix previous and current problems. I think they should just take down/reset the scores till the game actually is available.

Then again these sites are used to argue X game is better than Y game because of the average at metacritic. The sites useless I wish it would shut down.
