Forums - Gaming - The Wii third party game explosion has begun!

Look at the rules and u can tell how bias the site is. lol!!!

1. These are console exclusives. So, if a game appears on the PC and only one console, it is exclusive to that console. Also, because of the limitations of the DS, PSP and GBA, any game that appears on only one console and a handheld will be considered exclusive to that console.

Thats how alien syndrome becomes an exclusive for Wii, even if it is on a SONY PSP. hahaha..... If the developer were to make Alien syndrome for PS3 or X360, which owner of these system would even buy it? They will feel cheated to buy a PS2/Xbox capable game for their expensive high end consoles.

2. Downloadable games and content packs will not be included. Downloadable games may be added in the future, but considering the number of exclusive content pack deals flying around (i.e. Grand Theft Auto IV), the word doesn't end up meaning anything.

X360 have a huge downloadable library of exclusives like "settlers of Catan", "Carcasonne". PS3 is building up theirs with "calling all cars" and such. Wii only have old games from past systems. lol! This rule is in favor of the Wii.

Sorry, Sinha, I meant in production. These are the figures I was looking at:

360: 16 established franchises in production
PS3: 12 established franchises in production
Wii: 18 established franchises in production

Can't wait to see that number grow for the Wii.

Rule one favours both Sony and Nintendo but makes sense as we are talking about console exclusivity - not handheld. The PC part of that rule in fact favours Sony and Microsoft as FPS are generally made for the PC and one or both of those systems.

The downloadable content one was, Im sure, purely made to stop a crapfest of $5 games being counted in the exclusive list. There may be good downloadable games but how do you differentiate them from the ones that dont deserve to be counted as exclusives?  In any case soon this part will be evened in its effect by Wiiware so complaining about it is rather pointless.

I think the main problem was no one reading the rules. This thread would still be one page if people didn't keep repeating the same things over and over again. I think everyone here understands this list is by no means perfect and no one has said it was so far. I do think if your only taking into account this list your impression might be skewed a bit, but most people will probably end up doing their own research anyway. So as far as this topic goes Wii is getting more 3rd party support than it was. Hurray I can handle digging through piles of shovelware to find the good games, as long as there are good games with the bad I'm not complaining.

Just in this month's Game Informer I'll list the games appearing on the 360 and PS3 (and not the Wii) that are not on that site's list as "exclusive."

Prototype (cover feature, new game announced...Radical Entertainment, developer of the critically acclaimed Hulk game, is making a sandbox game),  Beowulf (Ubisoft), Destroy All Humans:  Path of the Furon (Sandblast),Condemned 2:  Bloodshot (Monolith Studios), Medal of Honor:  Airborne (EALA), and Conan (Nihilistic).

Others that come to mind from E3:  Call of Duty 4, RE5, SC5, Rock Band, UT3, Haze, Assassin's Creed, etc.

The overlap is what kills the PS3 and 360 in a list like that and the fact that budget titles are extremely rare on those platforms  (a budget title with PS2 quality graphics wouldn't really be a big issue on the Wii but would likely be a dealbreaker on the PS3 and 360 unless the game had amazing gameplay which isn't the case in the majority of those types of games).

Is anybody seriously surprised by the flood of bad titles? That's what happens when one console achieves the largest market share. Is anyone seriously going to deny that the PS2 had the most bad games last gen?

The interesting thing here is what will happen after the first wave of proper titles that've started production after the Wii turned to be a success and the last of the games that started development back when it looked like the PS3 was going to win are released.

Will companies move their best franchises to the Wii? Will the new franchises by smaller developers actually eclipse the old and stagnant ones? Will developers stay on the PS3 to lose money just because they love fancy graphics more than profit? I think it'll be pretty clear to all around next spring.

The huge library of crap PS2 games could be overlooked because the majority good 3rd party games were on the PS2. This is not the case with the Wii yet. And until that happens the Wii has crappy 3rd party support in my book, I don't care how many Carnival Games and Ninja Bread Men you stack up to make an argument against this.

A majority of the big 3rd party franchises are going to 360 and PS3 and not the Wi. GTA, RE, DMC, SC, Tekken, FF, MGS among many many of the best and best selling 3rd party games are going to the other two consoles.

Can you really claim the Wii is getting the best 3rd party support when you are completely leaving out most of the biggest 3rd party franchises in existance?

You nailed it.  I've noticed that the Wii is starting to become known as the place to be for shovelware, I mean there's one developer with 30 Wii budget titles in the works, I'm sure they can be put on a list like that (some of them are already mentioned) as some sort of victory in getting exclusives but it is definitely a hollow victory.

Is anybody going to try and refute the 'wave theory' that has been proposed?
The one that says that this wave of crap games and shovelware only indicates a change in developer focus that will cause good games to come to the Wii - but not yet as for a good game development takes time.

The question is simple, as a Wii owner do you prefer Ninja Bread Man as an exclusive or Resident Evil 5 as a multiplatform game that also comes out on Wii?

If you were a PS3 owner, would you prefer Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire or Super Mario Galaxy?

Signature material here...

How is that even the same? Is there a chance of Mario Galaxy going somewhere other than the Nintendo console? No.

Come on Ckmlb!  I know you can figure this one out!

How are they the same?

Well, you took one of the worst Wii "exclusives" and matched it against (arguably) one of the best (well, do we even have any impressions yet?  Let's say "High profile") games that the Wii is not getting.

So I took one of the worst PS3 exclusives and matched it against one of the best games the PS3 is not getting.

There you go!  I hope my explanation helped you to see the logic that I used!
