Forums - Gaming Discussion - Fallout 3 for the PS3 looks slightly worse than 360 version

the ps3 arcitecture is completely different from the 360, no dlc support or trophies, which are very unfortunate, we got a crap port of such a mind blowing epic.

I think the PS3 port got a few slightly less spectacular textures... otherwise its a perfectly decent port, as I understand it.  IMO not worth really caring about.

If the framerate was worse on the PS3 (I hear its about the same) I would probably pick up the 360 version... but its not, so I will likely go with my preferred HD system and controller (the PS3).

Having played both versions I can honestly say no I dont...

They look and play identically. If the difference between Fallout 3 on 360 and PS3 is the same then it isnt even worth mentioning.

Nice way to cherrypick, when this is the essential part:

So, really, the difference between the Xbox and PS3 versions won't hamper your enjoyment of the game in ANY WAY. High-res textures or not, it's still the same huge, epic, absorbing, brilliant adventure.

(not by the TS, but by everyone pulling the article out of context)

What about the other essential parts?

- No Trophies (if those comments where accurate)

- No exclusive DLC

Its funny because all the sony fanboys thought the ps3 would blow the 360 graphics out of the water by now, but they dont even look on par in most cases.

Why do people care this much?

As long as it isn't Madden 08 for PS3 bad, it's not that big of a deal

WAIT…I just had a really DEVIOUS and NEFARIOUS thought…this news is just hitting today, and so maybe this has something to do with a certainly like rag boy game coming out head-to-head against Fallout 3. This is NOT to say it isn’t the truth, since I’ve yet to see a running 360/PS3 comparison that displayed the superiority of the PS3…heck, I’ve yet to see a native PS3 game superior to top line 360 games, but the fact is that it’s going to look REALLY bad if Fable 2 totally blows out sales figures this week for an RPG, then Fallout 3 blows out the competition next week as well. So, in order to avoid that, PSM sways it’s undying fans to skip Fallout 3, and get the other game…aaaahh…influence buyers, like the comments from Soulja Boy about how the PS3 sucks. Nefarious and Devious, but if LBP fails to break the bank next week…YIKES!

I don't believe that anymore. Back when PS3 was new it was hard to develop for.

I think Activision proved if you put in the effort in the result is the same on PS3 and 360. By that i'm referring to CoD4 being just as good on both consoles.

No. What Activision proved with CoD4 is that if you put more effort into the PS3 than the 360, you can achieve the same results on both platforms.

Actually PS3 version has crappier textures in CoD4 too. You can't fart more mem for PS3 from thin air. Of course you could not to use all mem for X360. That way you would get similar results.

And proof...

Strap of that thing on the shoulder, neck of that jacket are lower res in PS3 and you can see that easily. When you pinch some here and there difference isn't that bad.

@Kantor

Graphics are better on 360 because devs spend more time on 360 versions. That is why PS3 exclusives always look 10x better than multiplats.

Just look at Burnout: Paradise. They worked on PS3 more than 360 and see the graphics difference.

Too bad you really can't compare exclusives, because they are always different somehow. Unless of course some games graphics are way better than others. I mean...

Heavy Rain => There are no games on X360 in which you render only small areas to get graphics like that.

GT5 => There are no car games with only static meshes on X360 which means you really can't compare it to anything.

Crysis vs any console fps => Crysis looks better and it has to render larger areas(not to mention other stuff it does) than X360 or PS3 can even hold in their memories. => there isn't really any competition...

@AceRock

They are lead programming on the weaker/more successful system and porting to the more powerful, just like last generation. I THINK, as in my opinion, if they lead programmed on the PS3 they couldn't port the games down to fit in the 360's parameters. The way it stands now, the 360 is in more homes, therefore, that is where they start with programming. If the PS3 was more popular and sold more games, that is where the games would start from, it doesn't have a thing to do with ease of use with the dev kits.

Mostly the lead programming is done on the most popular system, which is the logical choice. And you can do also stuff in X360 that you can't do in PS3. Of course that goes otherway around too just like you said.

this article confirms for me that it plays best on PC so i guess if i get fallout i will get it on pc. still not sure if i should get it since most infos i found about it show it as very action based rpg. guess i will wait the reviews and decide after.
