Why would Nintendo care that 3rd parties aren't making games easily? Nintendo already has a problem where they are selling TOO MANY consoles anyway.
Like the guy above mentioned, Miyamoto told them to put their top teams on the Wii. The architecture is very uncomplicated compared to a new concept like the Cell processor.
With the Wii, if you snooze, you lose, developers.
