I must also add S-E couldn't have done a more stupid thing than make this timed exclusive on 360

it will kill any decent PS3 sales WW....look at Eternal Sonata

they just lost a whole (by then) 17 Million strong console userbase....

If it is meant to be their "3rd" big seller 360 alone won't get this JRPG around the 3 - 5 million sales range

that was their first misstep.

I think there expecting sales more modest like 1-2 million copies. I don't think it is possible for TLR, as a series to sell as well as an FF and DQ game after only one game. BTW, S-E already have a third pillar with Kingdom Hearts. They WOULD also have other pillar franchises but they either haven't made a game in those series for years(Chrono, Xenogears, Parasite Eve) or they milked them to the point where they lost most of their popularity(SaGa, Mana).

I forgot KH :(

But a series needs to start somewhere....why couldn't this be the breakthrough that was KH....why couldn't it?

I am not assuming it will.....I was saying that due to it being 360 timed exclusive the chances of becoming a "breakthrough" are really low

as hype will have died by the time the Ps3 version comes out....also I think it will get near LO on 360....

what SE needed was a simulteneous release where the 360 version got near LO n the starved Ps3 JRPG fans helped it get to almost say double LO sales....

they wanted it to have huge sales and ofcourse they wanted that because they wanted loads money now they the got the money so u know it doesn't matter

they definetely did get money from Microsoft as I don't buy the UE 3 problem story

if that is so....why don't they release PS3's FF13 when its finished while completing the 360's one

________

But the truth is this move may loose them future sales....it may loosen & weaken the base of this franchise....what could have been say 2 million + seller....could now maybe be constrained to 1 million in sales....this move won't be worthwile n the long run if they want it to be a franchise.

The UE3 has trouble running on the PS3. It's a proven fact. BTW, I think the game will sell just fine in the West provided S-E give it a good marketing campaign. It's only in Japan where TLR sales are affected by the 360 timed exclusivety.

Yes we know UE3 has a problem.....but they could've just delayed the 360 version as well is my point...if Rockstar was courteous to do that for SONY (GTA 4 delayed due to PS3)....n S-E is courteous enough to do it for MS (FF13 delayed) why can't S-E do it for SONY?

anyways Japan will be where most of TLR sales will come from.....unless the west loves it

You know what?  The West might just love it.  They liked LO, didn't they?  S-E are not going to make a game meant for both Japan and the West to have most of the games sales come from Japan

lets hope the West will love it

if they don't.....then WKC is the only hope for JRPG's before THE Final fantasy comes

 Star Ocean 4 > Any JRPG released this year, and probably next year. So....no.

Are you counting only western release??

if so this year = LO

Next year = WKC/SO4 -- very close

if we'r couting west +Japan this year = WKC

Next year = {holds breath} Final Fantasy XIII/ DQ9

But rest aside SO 4 looks very promising....not as much as WKC but nevertheless could definetely be brilliant

ot: the last remnant looks very cool it's originally planned for ps3360pc , it's an RPG for the world as SE says :)
i hope the ps3 version doesn't get canceled

Since this game is an "RPG for the world", I hope that translates into better than the average [non-FF] JRPG sales.  In fact, I think S-E are hoping the game is a blockbuster success.

I am not seeing why some people hate androgynous video game characters.  In fact, the characters in TLR don't seem to be as effeminate as say, Vaan from FFXII.  When it comes to RPGs, I will take a character I can actually care about and has an actual personality over a space marine type character.

So you cared about Vaan?

I'll take a normal looking guy like Llloyd Irving, Fayt Leingod, Cloud, Crono, Leon, etc. over a character like Vaan anyday.

Oh and JRPG of the year is so subjective it has no meaning.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

WKC is a spruced up PHantasy Star Universe game. I dont think apart from some fairly nice graphics its special at all IMO. Phantasy Star games were pretty good dont get me wrong but they arent great. Considering LO was the first genuine breath of fresh air in the last 10 years of JRPG's other titles for me this year have got alot to live up to. The way IMO the JRPG will be this year.

1. Lost Odyssey

2. TLR

3. TOV

4. WKC

No, I found Vaan pretty boring actually.  I with you on the normal looking guy>Vaan argument.  Characters like Fayt Leingod, Cloud, and Crono are easy to relate too.  Especially the latter since he is mute so you can put your own personality in him.

@dathdevidem01

I think WKC and SO:TLH will be THE JRPGs of next year in the West.  For Japan, it's DQIX and maybe, FFXIII.

@riachu

I agree

@Selnor

I completely disagree

I can see why you'd disagree with him.  He is putting WKC on the bottom of that Top 4 when it could probably be better than all 3 of the above.

@Riachu

exactly.....online unveiling doesn't suddenly mean its a Phantasy Star game

seriously....did he even listen to their interviews

they clearly said the online mode was very optional.....n some sites are worried it might be bad due to them saying its "optional"...

that means WKC is still a solely single-player based game.

Yes I did see the interviews. I did say that list was my opinion. It's not fact so no need for sarcy. PSU was also completely optional online. Fully playable on your own.

Even if online mode is crap, an impressive single player game will be good enough for a lot of people.  Even so, I still have some faith in the online mode because Level 5 have experience with making online games when they were developing True Fantasy Live Online before it got cancelled
