I hope its true!

October 15, 2008 - Owen O'Brien, senior producer of Mirror's Edge, recently hinted at a possible Mirror's Edge trilogy. "The story that we're telling at the moment is kind of a trilogy, a three-story arc," O'Brien said to ausgamers.com at this year's TGS.

"I think the world we've created with the city, the culture, the environment, is almost as interesting or more interesting than any one individual story," he said, adding, "I think there's a lot of scope to take the story in different directions, or maybe to tell somebody else's story."

O'Brien hinted more at the trilogy with another cryptic line. "But certainly, for the first couple of games, it's all about Faith and her experiences in the world," he said.

Mirror's Edge is a first-person adventure that throws players into a conformist dystopian society. As protagonist Faith, players utilize parkour, or free-running, to escape the clutches of the government.

IGN contacted EA, however a company representative issued the following statement: "This is all speculation. We're currently focused on Mirror's Edge shipping in November. We have not announced any sequels for the game."

Fans can get their hands on Mirror's Edge when it launches on November 11.

Around the Network

the trilogy is all based on the sales

Every game that sells a couple million in it's debut inevitably becomes a trilogy.

Completed XBLA: 16 / 32
Completed Retail: 17 / 64
GS Completion %: 82.63%

Dumb.

It's hard to consider a game a masterpiece, or a truly amazing game by itself, if the developer tells us it's just gonna be part of a trilogy.

Wouldn't it be better for sales and perception if they don't release this information? They should let the game get released under the idea that this is a new, original game all by itself, and then announce a sequel or trilogy after it does well. After this announcement, I'm just worried the game won't be good enough alone.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
