Forums - Gaming - one reason why a certain users sig is full of bull

this is one game thats "90+ game on gamerankings" for 360 but not Ps3.

And these are the only reviewers that have scored both games

According to this Ps3 has an average score of .1% higher than the 360 because of gamezone scored the ps3 one 1% higher.

(To people reading the comments and wondering what the hell we were talking about. The post just said "Look at gamezones score. Ps3's average score is .01 higher than the 360." I was on the 10 point scale they were on %'s and I didn't mention these were the only reviewers that scored both games)

I need a facepalm gif in here for you.

Ps3 scored .1 higher than the 360 in the exact same reviewers. Average of .1 out of 10 is .01 (Even if i were going on the 100 scale instead of the 10 scale it isn't even 1 its .1 i dont know where you all are getting your numbers at)

in his defense, you really didn't explain it very well.. and i still needed to take a close look at the pic to figure out what the hell you were talking about.. and you did in fact get your calculations wrong

for the benefit of everyone else

Basically he picked 10 reviews from reviewers that had reviewed both the 360 and ps3 review.. rather than all 30 and 15 respectively (i'm not sure why.. it seemed quite a strange thing to do)

then from those 10 reviews, he found that they were all equal, with the exception of gamezone, which had a score of 9.1 on ps3, rather than 9.0 on 360..

therefore he has concluded that on average, all the reviewers thought the ps3 version was 0.01% better than the 360.. this is incorrect however .....

0.1/10 (gamezones score) = 1% difference.. which can easily be told as it is written on the website "91%" and "90%".. then if you devide that by 10, to get an average over all 10 reviews.. it is in fact 0.1% higher, not 0.01%

when all is said and done.. (maybe i'm just out of context of the "sig" in question), but that was a considerable waste of my time

@tabsina - average means add up all numbers and divide by the number of items... I think saying the average was fine... maybe I should have taken out the % instead... since % means out of 100. My calculations are right on in the 10 point scale like i said above.

Anyways why did i choose the numbers? Because they are the only numbers that have been reviewed by the same people.

Are you talking about GameZone's 9.1 vs 9.0? If so, that's a .1 difference.

If we're talking percents, that's a 1% difference. How are you getting .01?

does anyone know the definition of average on this site? (Again even if I change it to %'s its not even 1. its .1)

Your study to determine what console handles multi-platform games the best, with an amazing sample size of one game, is very convincing. I will be sure to buy all my multi-platform games on the PS3 from now on.
