Buy a 1080p TV, and then stop posting these threads.

umm he has a 1080p tv, the PS3 just doesn't have enough 1080p titles with 1080p support for AAA games.

'And again I'm especially disgruntled by this issue because my HDTV only plays 1080i.'

One of us is wrong, and I think it is you.

This is another one of those, 'My TV only does 480p and 1080i' threads...

Also, I'm pretty sure LBP is 1080p.  Don't remember my TV saying otherwise during the beta, but...

no, LBP is NOT 1080i/p. why would i be complaining about it if it were? it says in the box as well (a review copy is pictured in one of the threads on this site) and it reveals that its only 720p. perhaps you weren't paying attention when your screen went to 720p.

First of all I know you wanted to brush over the lack of exclusives deal, but I want to address that right now. PS3 has got exclusives. In fact it has more exclusives than the Xbox 360. People just seem to look the other way anytime a PS3 game is not on other platforms. Last week at TGS we saw 3 big exclusives from Japanese devs, and people act like PS3 had a crap show. I call White Knight Conicals, Demon Soul, and Quantum Theory a big great showing, that should have been an upturn for PS3 confedence. Instead people pretended this never happened, or just passed these games off as jokes.

As far as the TV thing goes, that is a crap deal. The good thing is 1080p TV's are selling for under a thousand bucks, as long as you stay under 46in. It is really worth it to upgrade to the new standard. Blu-ray movies will not let you regret spending the money.

About exclusivities, it is a fanboys myth to me: Games for the Ps3 take more time to develop so that exclusivities list keeps pilling up. WHile the 360 players are already enjoying blockbusters for years, you guys are still waiting for Killzone 2 and a God of War that exists only on paper. Also, Ps3 owners seems to always forget that Pc games only ported to the 360 are also exclusivities.

You are right about blue-ray but again, this is sony marketing. We are talking about games here no movies.

Anyway ...

thats what i tell before ... if Killzone 2 & GT take that much time to develop imagen how much time GOD III will take to arrive ..... maybe its will be available in 2012 .. also most of the games that i have run at 720p & 30fps and i read in a PC hardware site before that the CPU that can reach higher fps is the more powerful so sony didnt give us whats its promise ... and notice that all the games that sony show it at E3 2005 is CG movies to trick people and make them believe that the ps3 able to do this.... so where is the CG quality games that sony promise us ?

Gran Turismo was released months ago, in the form of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, with more content than many "full" racers.

Full Gran Turismo games always take years to develop, because of the hundreds of cars they include.

As for God of War III, Sony Santa Monica are some of Sony's best and most efficient coders, and they wrok closely with Naughty Dog (who is technically under teh Santa Monica wing of Sony's studios). Naughty Dog already released a game a year ago, and their engine (as well as the work done by many other studios), will go into the engine used by SMS for God of War III.  Given all this, GoWIII should be out by the end of 2009.

Other than that, the only game left from 2005 that hasn't been either released or canceled is Killzone 2, and it's looking very similar to it's CG trailer.  As a beta tester, I can say it plays great as well.

can you confirm now if killzone 2 does play in 1080i?

Garnett, please read this, for your own sake.

"Sony made the PS3 seem 100x more powerful than Xbox 360 and all this stuff about 1080p and 60 fps is all talk, when they cannot do neither one,Also Blue ray isnt that good either DVD reads 16x while blue ray is only 2x thats what ever PS3 owner has to INSTALL data onto there HDD cause the blue ray is so slow."

All the 16X and 2X mean is that
current dvd players read at 16 times the speed of the first dvd player.
current blu ray players read at twice the speed of the first blu ray player

For a dvd, 1X is 10.5 Mbits/sec
For a blu Ray disc, 1X is 36 Mbits/Sec

What do you know, your point is still valid, even if your reasoning is wrong

16X dvd = 168 Mbits/sec
2X BR = 72 MBits/sec
2X HD-DVD = 72 MBits/sec
