Forums - General Discussion - How many would answer the call for a US draft?

With Iran, Syria, and Russian threats, the military is limited.  Air supremacy/Israeli first strike offers the best bet for Iran and Syria but we would back them 110% That said who would do the above?  As for me, if it came to that, where is my M16, sir?

Reinstituting the draft is political suicide. Any politician who does it is asking to have his entire party fade into oblivion.

Once you give Americans a right (no draft, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security), trying to take it away from them is like trying to dig to China with a spoon. It isn't going to happen.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

They'd have to pry a gun into my cold, dead hands.

Not a chance in hell. I'd go visit my Canadian VGchartz friends.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

I am not certain if I would answer it. It would depend on the war we are engaged in. If another nation is attacking us, then I would most definitely join the armed services. If we go around starting wars ala Iraq and Vietnam, I would say no.

the US didnt start the vietnam war

Yes, we did not start the war. I should have used a more appropriate phrase such as wars of intervention. If the US does not have a legitimate case for self-defense, I will not partake in that war.

Wow, it's not even 10:30 on sunday yet and my crazy thread quota for the week has already been met.
