Forums - Microsoft - Is the 360 Cheaper than the Wii?

People are under strangest impressions that the Xbox 360 is cheaper than the Wii.

Ok Microsoft has lowered the price but if you really want a fully functioning 360 then you need a Hard Drive.  So the price of the Arcade version in Britain is £129.99 and the cost of 20GB hard drive is £64.99.

Wii=£179.99

360 Arcade=£194.98

And my friends, most people will require a Wireless Network Adapter for the 360 which is another £54.99.

The Wii's WNA is built in btw.

Taking all this into account the supposedly CHEAPER 360 is actually £69.98 more expensive.

Ug. If you really "need" the hard drive (and you don't) then you can just get the model that comes with it built in. I don't know why you would claim anyone needs the wireless adapter though.

Considering that YOU DON'T NEED A HARD DRIVE, yes it is cheaper than the Wii. Or am I missing something and all of the sudden the Wii comes equipped with a HDD? Or are you just trolling cuz if so you got me.

What are you looking at, nerd?

At first your post seems to make sense, but when you think about it, you are wrong.

To fully enjoy the Wii you have to buy three extra Wiimotes and three extra nunchucks and a party game, let's say Mario Party 8. That costs you additional €230 or so. If you convert that into pounds, that's about 165?

So the 360 is cheaper than the Wii.

Beaten...

Im confused why the spin? Are you trying to make sales numbers look better for the 360 by saying its more expensive then the wii?

Is John McCain posting at our forums? Anyways, why would most people require a WNA? I know a myriad of people who own a 360, and none of them have required a WNA.

Well as I own 3 360's I know that you need the hard drive if you intend to play games online.  Granted the Arcade version comes with a 256MB memory.  But this is not adequate enough for all the updates/add ons the owner will receive.

Gears of War update/Add ons alone come to 500MB.

As for getting the WNA.  How many of you have your house completely cabled out with CAT5.  I know I don't

To respond to RolStoppable.  You can say exactly the same thing about the 360.  I have 4 pads.  And the Arcade 360 doesn't even come with a game.  The Premium 360 does come with a game but that console still costs £184.99 and thats without a WNA.  So in total thats £239.98.  Still more expensive.

The point is there are a number of threads on here talking about the 360 price cut etc.  But at the end of the day the 360 is more expensive.  By quite a large amount.

And to top it all, Microsoft wants an extra £40 a year for the priviledge of playing online.  The cheek of it.  And like a mug, I pay it lol.

 So you've beaten cancer?

I think this post answered my question. 360 is cheaper than the wii... so lets make excuses why it isnt performing like it.

LOL Mature has lost his mind.  I agree you can get an incomplete 360 for less than a Wii.

But who wants one of those?
