Forums - Sales - Could Wii become best selling peice of hardware ever?

@WiiGirl: Punch Out because the bosses are similar with the timing and strategy elements. But I haven't played it, I say my impression because a couple American previews made this corrolation.

@PS3owner: You just don't seem to get it. People are buying the Wii and DS because it either meets their desires or makes them realize they want something that it offers that they didn't previously want. While shooter and other traditional games are popular, and will be popular on Wii and DS, the biggest asset to the Wii, DS, and PSone and 2 were/are the diversity of their libraries. They have Action, Adventure, Shooters, Flying, Music, Alternative Genres, etc. The PS1 and 2 offered lots of games not available anywhere else. DS and Wii offer experiences not available any where else.

I own a Wii but I am also a PS3 owner, because I like good graphics and traditional gameplay. I play WiiPlay and Big Brain more than anything else right now... trying to top my scores. I also play GTHD concept alot... trying to top my scores. That is what makes these games addictive to me, they are quick to pick up, and I challenge myself not 400 alien-nazi-zombies with chainsaws challenging me(though killing hordes of them are fun too). I can't say that is why other Wii owners play it, but it is one reason.

The return of the score, I am glad it is back. In fact now that I think of it many of my favorite games have the high score/best time element (WiiPlay, Elebits, GT, Older SMB games) but some don't (FF, Newer Mario Games, etc.)

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

In that case, you're absolutely right! Indeed it needs great timing sometimes, to defeat enemies. Some enemies really pisses me off as you'll need to defend and attack at the same time. Arrows, fire balls for example which are thrown at you by enemies, have to be hitten back to the enemies, to defeat them, or else you can't by just smacking around with the remote. Also special attack skills requires timing or else they'll fail. I have to say using the remote is absolutely fulfiling while playing this game, there's no better console then the WII for DQS ;)

Hard question to answer without getting into a consol war:

WW: Hard to say actualy, I personally don't think so mostly because PS2 still sells well in USA and PAL. Of course if Nintendo could get EU to like the Wii as much as the DS we could get somewhere, but then I think Nintendo needs to stop screawing the EU fanbase (see price RE4 PAL = price 2x RE4 USA).

Japan: No DS will take that spot, if we are speaking about home consols only, yes it has a small chance beating PS2.

PAL: I have no idea.

I do belive that Nintendo has a shot for 100 millions but the need to start producing some more units if that is the case.

And in another thread, you were saying you are never a troll, and only add value and entertainment to this forum.

Wii will not catch PS2 sales and ill base it on the competition. When the PS2 sold oodles it had relatively no competition, the gamecube was widely viewed as subpar for its entire life, the Dremcast calling it quits left teh PS2 as teh only real viable gaming option, the xbox was a novelty and everyone was so comfortable with th eSony Playstation brand from the success of the PS1.  The Wii will have much stronger competition and the PS2 was able to gain more steam and momentum with future sales based on the (at that time) advanced developing that had yet to be unlocked. The Wii is amazing in sales, dont get me wrong, but I think the PS2 was just teh right console at teh right time with the right name (Playstation) and it will never be seen again, imo.

I doubt the DS will catch the PS2 because nintendo is going to make a new handheld eventually. And the Wii wont catch the PS2 because the PS2's numbers are a moving target. What happens after the PS2 becomes $99 for Christmas. It will be the highest selling console this Christmas just wait and see.

It is possible to get 100+mil Wii's sold, but Wii will need:
-More colors (will trade white one for black one at some point, pricecut maybe)
-Some more casual games
-More "hardcore" (pretty stupid term to use) games
-Pack in another Wii-mote + nunchuk with Wii sports
-Bigger Hdd (atleast 1Gb, maybe 2 Gb)
-More codecs to be supported
-More retro systems supported
-More Wii-Ds connectivity games
-And last, but not least, pack that Dvd-player to every Wii sold after X-mas
-And of course ramp up that production atleast to 2 mil+ consoles per month.
-And pricecut after all of these.

Nothing's cheaper than something free.

Looks like lots of people responded to my post, that makes what i said true about my posts and that they bring people to post and comment on this site, and if the wii does sell more than eiher the PS1 or PS2 then you guys can make any sig for me and i will where it forever, until that day i will continue to post what i feel the wii is.

And if the Wii never passes the PS1 or PS2 all you wii fanboys have to wear a Sig that says "wii is for wiitards, PS3owner is the king" if you accept this deal send me a PM, and i'll make a Sig that says my challenge against the wii fanboys. Remermber if i lose you guys can make any sig and i will wear it forever, and i won't just wear it on this site, but i wear it on every site i go to.

....Or you could gain some intelligence and not bash the Wii in every post of yours that is so unintelligent.

...Or risk a ban, eh?

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
