Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox 360 Sales Chart, July 15th (depressive edition!)

Before I get to the numbers, I must rejoice. This is my second #1 for the Prediction League in a row for American predictions. And they're the only #1s I've ever got before, hehe.

This Wk. Last Wk. NameWk. Sales Total Sales  % Drop Wks. in Release
 #1 #1 The Darkness 23,173 169,559 -35.0% 3
 #2 #3 Transformers  21,727 100,230 -20.0% 3
 #3 #4 Guitar Hero 2 20,783 922,194 -19.2% 15
 #4 #2 Overlord 19,859 129,334 -34.9% 3
 #5 #7 Forza Motorsports 2 14,680 440,816 -24.8% 7
 #6 #5 DirT 14,403 139,367 -30.1% 4
 #7 #6 The Bigs 13,348 62,097 -33.5% 3
 #8 #8 Vampire Rain 12,313 29,390 -27.7% 2
 #9 #11 Gears of War 12,061 2,808,082 +4.3% 36
 #10 #9 Ghost Recon AW: 2 10,936 581,149 -20.5% 19

Notes: Nothing major, aside from some pretty hefty drops, yet again. Like last week, there were no software winners. GH2 took a huge plunge, as it's always held remarkably. However, even @ 20k/wk, it's still doing rather well.

IMO, Overlord continues to do rather well @ 20k. That isn't much, but the game should enjoy a decent life, and Im glad sales have been decent for it.

News: Transformers hit 100k, Gears hit 2.8m, CoD3 is way up, and will easily break 1.1m, MLB2k7 hit 550k.

Overall, this week was fairly decent in Japan. GRAW 2 debuted just around where I'd hope it would. Although 8.9k is not very significant, it's already 4,000 units away from besting GRAW 1 numbers. Expect a massive drop next week (70%+), ala Saints Row.

Aside from this, drops were fairly good. Trusty Bell had a decent drop, and even at 23% drops over the rest of it's life (which is too low, for this extrapolation), Trusty Bell will end up @ just above 70k LTD. However, with a big lineup for the X360 over the next few weeks, hardware boosts should provide TB, as well as other games, strong drops over the next few weeks.

A quick highlight of the Japanese line-up: Oblivion (7/26), Hitman: Blood Money (8/30), Fatal Inertia (9/06), Mousou Orochi (9/13), Halo 3 (9/27), Ace Combat (11/01). Most of these should be decent numbers, and aren't the entire lineup in Japan, just the ones with actual dates.

The rest of the holdovers did decent, expecially Viva Pinata, which keeps doing real well, despite such an abysmal start.

Next week: Expect low Japanese numbers. Software will be around, or under 10k total. However, US software will be insane. NCAA 08 and All Pro Football launched this week. NCAA 08 should hit ~300k, and All-Pro should reach ~75k. Add in holdover software with a typical drop of around 60k, and total software will be well above 600k for the week - far above the other respective systems, and should hit #4 or higher for best software of the week. Likewise, NCAA 08 should get #3 for top-opening weeks for the year (next to God of War and Pokemon D/P), and the best X360 debut of the year.

Question: Where you expecting Vampire Rain to do well?
I ask because I remember a few You Tube videos siting it as a great exclusive Xbox360 was getting.

I feel bad for DirT, and I expected better sales for Forza 2. They'll get their sales in PAL, I'm sure.

That Vampire Rain game doesn't deserve to sell, it's crappy. Also apparently there is a PS3 version coming out now, expect even lower sales (At least in the US).

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

the sales are depressive, cause none of these games are worth 59.99

the darkness is a multiconsole FPS (too short, online sucks)
transformers movie multiconsole (another shitty movie licensed videogame)
guitar hero 2 multiconsole (its cheaper to buy a ps2 than 360)
the bigs multiconsle (another shitty sports game for 59.99)
ghost recon: aw 2: multiconsole (fun, generic,)

dirt (worth a rental, racing games arent worth 59.99)
overlord ( worth a rental, too short, not worth 59.99)
Vampire Rain ( horrible game, avoid at all costs, not even a rental)
forza 2 ( worth a rental, racing games arent worth 59.99)

Gears of war is the only killer application for the 360, that is a must-own. which explains the "depressing" sales this week

Ari, that almost seems like flamebait/trolling.

Although Im not a fan of the $59.99 pricetag either, many of the games you listed are worth the pricetag.

GH2 comes with 1600 MS points for the extra $10 for DLC songs. Worth the price

FM2 is also definately worth the price as well. You might not like racing games, but FM2 is the best racing game, ever. Your entitled to your opinion, but it's not fact.

Vampire Rain - review scores were absolutely abysmal. I definately didn't expect it to do well. I didn't even know that turd was exclusive.

About Dirt and Forza - both are doing great in PAL territories. FM2 has almost broken FM1's US sales, and will reach FM1's w/w sales real, real shortly. Dirt, I have no idea. It'll reach 200k guarenteed in the US, and should reach decent numbers worldwide. Not a failure (as I'd say any game that gets 500k on one console, despite being atleast to PC as well), but not the greatest.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Also, it should be noted that Wii and DS software were just as depressed. MP8, a once likely millionseller has virtually no chance of it @ just under 20k for the week, and no Wii software sales were above X360 software, save Wii Play.

I know I'm missing something.  So Wii Sports and Dragon Quest Swords didn't sell above 360 software?

I think he was talking about America Only, because he was mentioning how much sales were depressed this week.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
