Forums - Microsoft - Guilty Gear 2 Announced for Xbox 360 and It's Not What You Think

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3161381

Arc System Works has announced Guilty Gear 2 Overture for Xbox 360 according to the latest issue of Japanese publication Weekly Famitsu.

Unlike the previous installments which were 2D fighting games, the sequel will be a mix of real-time strategy and 3D fighting game. Players will select characters - such as Sol Badguy, Sin, among others - referred to as "Masters" in this game. You will also have units to move around and give commands on the field map in RTS-like fashion. When in contact with enemy units, the battle then becomes more synonymous to a 3D fighting game.

Guilty Gear 2 Overture is currently 80% complete, but no release date has yet been announced.

A sad day for me, I have never been less interested in a Guilty Gear game ever... and giving it the 2 number finally? Does this mean future Guilty Gear games will follow this crappy direction?

I'll stick with Accent Core later this year on PS2 and Wii.

My god, it sounds terrible. I'll go with Wii Guilty Gear, unless the PS2 version gets better reviews.

How come the new game announcements in the new section are almost always Nintendo news and close to never news about games on other consoles?

I've heard the new normal Guilty Gear has stupid issues and imbalances in it so I hope people were just exaggerating their whining on that.

Failure sounds imminent. It will go the way of Street Fighter Ex and Samurai Showdown 64. Some games are meant to remain 2-d.

Sad part is, it'll probably sell real well (considering), on the X360.

Could certainly help the X360 decently. Should do 40-50k in Japan.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Why does this sound so bad to people o_O

I am always very interested in RTS hybrids. Natural Selection was a great game, for example. It won't necessarily be good -- lots of expirements fail -- I just don't understand why everyone feels so sure it will fail.

RTS is probably the most skill oriented of all genres (FPS and Fighting games would like to argue with that, I'm sure), so it's always been one of my favorites. Is this just a backlash against RTS in general?

Also, I agree that it would be nice to see more PS3/360 games officially announced under the "breaking news" section. Playstation Premier was this week, there were several games announced, and yet we didn't get much (if any) coverage of that. More please!

I dunno about that... maybe cause it's going for some of that Musou vibe.

But in the US, I don't expect it to do good, but I dunno. No idea how many GG fans own 360s, I'm sure some do.

i have a feeling this game will be as bad as guilty gear: osuka
