Ms can't be happy with that price drop. They get a bump of interest then it wanes. At the price and with the same multi-plats, good exclusives and a bigger back catalog it should be selling well above PS3 considering that unless you really want BR as well it offers essentially the same as 360 for a much higher cost.

If 360 drops back below PS3 (which it looks like it will) I'll be really curious what MS do then as if they leave things as they are then 360 will definitely be third in Others. I know some are assuming the current economic situation will favour 360 (and it should) but the crunch is already on and 360 is really only a small amount above PS3 and trending down from the initial cut vs PS3 holding pretty steady.

They better hope the price cut holds better in Japan and especially the US as a three to four week bump that settles back isn't much for a pretty big drop in regular price.

If 360 does drop back then if I was Sony I'd seriously consider a very modest price cut before holidays in Others. The way its holding steady even a modest drop would likely generate a sustained increase in average weekly sales, which tied to new games and holiday season should drive strong sales.

Excellent post;

And agreed.

An extremely modest PS3 price cut after 360 falls back below it would really increase sales weekly, and effectively put the nail in the 360's coffin, at least in that territory.

agree.

How do you mean Flawed like hell?

ifa xbox360 pricecut cant move much more like you guys believe,  why the hell should a pricecut of a machine more expense work better?

Seems like PS3 will do better than 360 next week, especially with SOCOM just aroudn the corner. But we will see.

Some of you keep ignoring the power of the Playstation brand in Europe. Without the pricecuts, the 360 would be dying here, I think the price is one of its biggest weapons at the moment. Despite the high price, the PS3 will outsell the 360 this christmas, but I think the 360 will keep high numbers, not so far from Sony ones. Only the fact of being near the numbers of the PS3 is a big achievement for MS in a continent where Playstation has reigned supreme for so many time.

Btw, I don't remember a week in which the 360 sold more consoles than PS3 in Spain, this must be some kind of miracle or X file.

why are you so bent on not believing the price cut failed?

Why would it work better for ps3? because there is more demand. Demand = interest.

so more people are in interested in the ps3.

I m just realizing the drop is quite important while the PS3 are quite stable :

http://vgchartz.com/hwcomps.php?cons1=Wii&reg1=Total+Other&cons2=PS3&reg2=Total+Other&cons3=X360&reg3=Total+Other&start=39705&end=39726

check it yourself !

http://vgchartz.com/hwcomps.php?cons1=Wii&reg1=Total+Other&cons2=PS3&reg2=Europe&cons3=X360&reg3=Europe&start=39705&end=39726

this is more telling (as price cut was in EU regions)....and bad news for M$ as next week PS3 will definetely equal if not once again be over 360 in EU

why is it bad when the xbox360 is stealing marketshare like hell?

just like pes and fifa used too be ps dominated but it isn't anymore

You realise last year that the PS3 version of PES and FIFA outsold the 360 versions? By about 500k for PES 08 (with the PS2 version still selling 3.5m, and then the PS3 2nd best with 1.75m, then 360 then PSP). For FIFA 08, it was again PS2, PS3, 360, PSP

Most of the sales come on the PS platforms

and you realise im only talking about stealing marketshare?

and it isn't purely a ps brand game anymore like like ffx111

yes we know....you aren't breaking news here.

We still have the best selling exclusive of last gen's sequels exclusive to Ps3 though ---- GT5

n that aint going nowhere

I hope it is only reason for me buying a ps3

it wont. sony owns it ;)

Check out my game about moles ^

Haha damage control at its best. I love how both your charts start from September of this year to decrease the slope of the line.
