A $199 PS3 would be selling at a loss, so even if it were scaled to that price it would probably be slightly more powerful than the Wii - but only slightly. The HD crowd would have abandoned it for the 360, no questions asked.

But it would have kept to old values, instead of the Blue Ocean, so the Wii would have curb-stomped it anyway.

Essentially, if the PS3 were 199? This would be a two-man race.

LOL this last 4 weeks is the lowest average 4 weeks that the wii has had in almost a year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS3 wont be in 199$ price range for a while, so topics like that really dont make any sense. But i dont think that this price cut could affect the Wii in any sense, i mean 360 in Europe is extremely cheap and Wii is not affected. Wii is a product that is wanted by the majority , and PS3 is not.

199$ PS3 would definately hurt the Xbox, but this wont happen for ages.

Well to be fair to compare the $200 price point you would have to take out the hard drive of the PS3, which would render it pretty much useless.

Sony fanboys are so delusional it both amuses me and pisses me off at the same time. But I wish I hadn't read through this thread and seen the bullshit some people are spitting out. I feel just pissed off with little amusement and I feel sorry for some and how they have been brain washed by a company that cares nothing about them to the extent they priced their console out of reach of their fans because they were obsessed with winning a format war.

Looks like you are all ignorant. The original post of the thread said how a price cut would compare to sales of the other systems, and you must be ignorant cos sony looses about 50 per console now, it costs just over 400 to make a ps3. now that they sell bluray players for 299 (in other words it costs less to make bluray drives) the Cell and RSX recently shifted to 65nm and the cell will be 45 nm in '09, it obviously means that a price cut next year is imminent. No sony bashing.

SaviorX told me that he probably might buy it if there is a slim version. However if its only 200 bucks then he will buy it.

 Well actua;;y incase you hadnt noticed the PS3 does offer some things that the Wii doesnt like HD Gaming which im keen of and it obviously has a Blu-ray player which is proably more valuable than the Wii on its own!

Sony would go bankrupt in a matter of days :p cause I would buy one and so would several tons of other people... costing them 200/console... 10 million sold that's 2 billion dollars down the drain... and that's just the start
