Forums - Microsoft - Fable 2. ALL Doubters enter. You have to see this.

After looking at the video my imediate impressions are why didn't they just make an MMORPG instead of making an offline MMORPG ? it's pretty sad getting a Wife/Gf online but offline that's like Wtf ? they aren't even representing real people.

In theory all these gameplay elements are interesting but without any other real people to be influenced by these elements apart from the person playing it ,then really what's the point ?

imagine your character floods the market with a rare weapon and reduces it's value and let's anyone get their hands on it , that'll piss off alot of the higher lvl players who worked hard for their weapons , they'll swear at you get annoyed etc . Or imagine your guild bought all the rare weapons on the market , the value of the weapons would shoot up pissing off all the low level players who can't afford it , this is the kind of interaction that makes an MMORPG worth playing you simply can't recreate that offiline .

You can't program AI to be human you can only program it to imitate human behaviour , why would you even want an offline world which operates like an online one the most signifant thing about MMORPG's is the community , competition between human players etc.

Lionhead would have spent their time better improving the story line , depth and gameplay in ways that make a good offline game , it's good having an offline developer made community but Fable 2 takes it too far.

Thanks for the video, sadly I am less interested in the game after seeing that. I like growth through questing. It sounds like there are two discreet games in one. An actions adventure, and a 'The Sims" game.

I hate the sims.

Oh, and to answer your question about the most advances Next Gen game, I would say it will probably be Fallout 3.

I plan on playing both (Fallout 3 on the PC). I will let you know what I think :)

I understand these things arent everyones cup of tea. But not everyone wants to just play FF7 with better graphics or Half Life 1 with better graphics. Because so far thats all we have. The option in a single player game where suddenly it turns cold starts to snow for a couple of ingame days and realise shit I dont have any wood for my fire so my family will keep warm and not die. That is an affecting gameplay element previously not in games.

I want games to move forward not just be stuck with better graphics but same gameplay and different story. Either way you look at it it's impressive the Fable 2 engine.

Hmm i'd rather play the final thing to make my mind up about the game and as for "most advance next gen gameplay" ....LOL.

So what game would you say has this much detail? Gears 2? KZ2? Oblivion? MGS4? None of them come close. It's one thing having awesome graphics. It's another to be able to have a chain of properties for instance and be a landlord. Own shops, set the prices. Sort out the stock levels. Decorate your home. Affect the economy. Become a conniseur or ladies man. For instance Oblivion promised so much, but falls so short in comparison to Fable 2. Yeah in Gears 2, the graphics are awesome, but as usual you pick up a gun and fire it. In terms of next gen gameplay Fable 2 has done leaps and bounds. Thats my point. Finally it's not just ooohhh look at the ai there it ran for cover pretty good. Look at the texture there. Those things can get old quick.

==> I dont think it is so impressive to have these features on a game ...
Indeed, it is maybe "long" for developpeurs to make all these things working but I doubt it is so "hard" to make it run on a console.

Also, I m not really interested some of these "second life like" things like being married for example ...

The only thing I can say is :
The visuals look good, the game has his own identity and that is really important for a cinematic game.

How much do I have to pay to NOT do any of those things you just mentioned? Why would I want to check stock level and manage a shop in a FANTSY game? Give me heoric quest and I will be happy with it.

Because in THIS Fantasy game, what you DO to the economy can destroy or bring prosperity to the world your playing in.

Really, some of the comments on this thread are absolutely stupid. "WHY WOULD I WANTZ THIZ?!!!1" Um, I don't know, why do we play video games? Is it so maybe we can do something in them we can't do in real life? Maybe because its fun to see the outcome of all your actions having REAL effects on the entire world around you, unlike in games like Zelda, Gears, and pretty much every other game ever made? the moment I see any of you destroying entire cities economies by yourself I'll put down the controller. Why are there more then 1 combo types in God of War? Gee maybe because they are fun. Why different cars in Gran turismo despite most of them all being the same? Because they are fun.

Million, an MMORPG where everyone has the possibility to screw with prices like that would be an utter mess. Any hacker with half a brain will hack the game, get all the weapons from stores, and then new players will never be able to rise in the game.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

Eeeh..., this video actually turned me off the game...bla bla bla, lots of talk of features that sound boring. It looks really nice though and I have been anticipationg this a little, so I'll wait for reviews to come in.

if you want the sims you go buy the sims , if you want an RPG go buy an RPG . I don't care about setting up a fire if it's gonna snow or getting a girlfirend and children in a game , I'd play the sims if I wanted that.

What I what is a good storyline , excellent gameplay and great graphics none of that "real life simulation" stuff apeals to me , i'd play an MMORPG for that.

Meh i can't be bothered i'm out.

Dude chill. It's absolutely fine if your ok with playing games the same with better graphics and new story. It's just that some of us want gameplay to move on. I still like games where the levels are linear, where I know if I do a certain quest I will eventually get money to buy new weapon and so on. But I also want to see games intracisies change. So that gameplay feels more involved than following someones design. I want the game world to be affected by my actions. Not set so that it couldnt happen any other way.

Fable did not start as Project Ego for nothing. The game is designed to try and make you feel like god.(worshiped or feared) Its not everyones cup of tea and was not one of the more endearing aspects of the original IMO. Still all this interaction should go a long way to making the game world feel alive.(a worthy goal) I just hope it does not tank a bad as radiant AI did. Still there is a lot of gameplay there that looks fun. Play what you like and ignore the rest. Choices are a good thing.

Anyone else find it funny how much the PM segments of the video were edited for content. Looks like the poor guy still has a foot in mouth fetish.

These things dont have to be mutually exclusive. You dont want to do the emotes(i dont either) or play economic games then concentrate on the story and questing.

Damn, that IS impressive. And it's very fitting for the overarching theme in the Fable series: choice and consequence. I personally love the idea how every action you take causes a cascade of reactions and that there's a solid butterfly effect that affects gameplay. The replayability for Fable 2 is going to be legendary.
