After looking at the video my imediate impressions are why didn't they just make an MMORPG instead of making an offline MMORPG ? it's pretty sad getting a Wife/Gf online but offline that's like Wtf ? they aren't even representing real people.

In theory all these gameplay elements are interesting but without any other real people to be influenced by these elements apart from the person playing it ,then really what's the point ?

imagine your character floods the market with a rare weapon and reduces it's value and let's anyone get their hands on it , that'll piss off alot of the higher lvl players who worked hard for their weapons , they'll swear at you get annoyed etc . Or imagine your guild bought all the rare weapons on the market , the value of the weapons would shoot up pissing off all the low level players who can't afford it , this is the kind of interaction that makes an MMORPG worth playing you simply can't recreate that offiline .

You can't program AI to be human you can only program it to imitate human behaviour , why would you even want an offline world which operates like an online one the most signifant thing about MMORPG's is the community , competition between human players etc.

Lionhead would have spent their time better improving the story line , depth and gameplay in ways that make a good offline game , it's good having an offline developer made community but Fable 2 takes it too far.

I understand these things arent everyones cup of tea. But not everyone wants to just play FF7 with better graphics or Half Life 1 with better graphics. Because so far thats all we have. The option in a single player game where suddenly it turns cold starts to snow for a couple of ingame days and realise shit I dont have any wood for my fire so my family will keep warm and not die. That is an affecting gameplay element previously not in games.

I want games to move forward not just be stuck with better graphics but same gameplay and different story. Either way you look at it it's impressive the Fable 2 engine.
