 Quite often some of like to point out how well the PS3 is doing in comparison to the PS2/1 using this graph.

If you notice this site has no data for PS1 sales in NA or Others.

So, all you are really doing is comparing the worldwide sales of the PS3 to one region of sales for the PS1 and two regions of sales for the PS2(or one region when you set PS2 to 'All' as it was only available in Japan at this time).

What is really nice is looking at this graph shows that the PS2 sold nearly as well in either Americas or Japan as the PS3 did worldwide.

Why was this thread necessary?

Because about every few days or so i see at least one idiot try to make this claim. It just bugs me due to its idiocy.

because every week someone comes up with the stupid claim that the PS3 is performing as well as the PS2 and points us to the same damn graph.

Hopefully now, people will see this thread and understand, and then maybe the stupid theory can die

When I saw the title of this thread I almost exploded. I hate when people say that.

 That's exactly why I created the thread...and just bumped it. Want to make sure everyone on this website knows.

I hate to break it to you Superchunk, but anyone stupid enough to compare the PS3 to the PS1 or PS2 in sales at this is stupid enough to link the graph anyway.

Thanks for clearing that up, I looked at that same chart a few days ago and was trying to figure out why they matched up so evenly.
