That would split the DS market and not every one is going to up grade. Secondly, Nintendo stated that the DSI is being released because the DS hit its saturation point in Japan. Which means that a new model DS would increase the sales of the DS. What you are saying is that the DSI would be a new iteration of the DS which it clearly is not. There are no new graphical capabilities, no new CPU, and it still only uses one touch screen. The only differences between the DS and the DSI are the Cameras, SD card slot, Internal Memory, and the lack of a GBA slot for the DSI model. The DS/DSI is pretty much like the GBA/SP/Micro. All games developed for the GBA worked on the GBA SP and the Micro.
