Forums - Sony - Have pirates given up on hacking and uploading for the PS3?

Title kinda says it all. Just looked for some PS3 game titles just for fun (it's completely pointless after all with no hacks) on  a huge torrent site and usenet and they simply are absent.  I looked for Silent hill, Fracture, Brothers in arms, Saints row 2, NBA and so on, the games themselves haven't even been uploaded it seems since none seem to bother anymore. Now all these games are availible for the 360 for example. Even completely playable on Live I read, I don't have a 360 anymore after it RROD'ed multiple times on multiple units, so I sold it and can't verify it myself.

 

Can we claim a victory for Sony in overcoming piracy (for now)?

There is still no widely available way to hack the PS3, so uploading game copies that can not be played on an unhacked system is pointless. That's why there are no games on such sites.

They haven't given up, they are just trying to figure out how to do it efficiently and 100% success rate each time.

and no Sony can't claim victory over piracy considering how much pirating went down with the PS2 and PSP. In fact if anything, Sony is the worst offender.

While the PS3 remains un-hackable, the PSP is able to be hacked by a 10 year old and an online tutorial....

I think the lack of piracy on PS3 is connected to BD. Pirate disks should be much cheaper than the originals and BD are not cheap enough.

Not entirely true.  There is widely available hacks to replace the hard drive with a larger one, and rip or download and play dvd and blu ray movies to the hd.

There just is not enough interest in the PS3.  Real pirates will just copy the discs or steal the supply...

In Japan they're about $4 a pop (about $41 for10). getting closer to "cheap" every day lol

i just typed "ps3" on torrent search engine. cod4, fifa street 3, burnout paradise, resistance, motorstorm, oblivion, assasins creed, cod 3, SC4, ridge racer 7 and many more games can be downloaded via torrents, so?

how do you know those torrents are legit waron? and even if they are legit, people are just uploading them, but they can't ACTUALLY be played on a ps3 because there is no working hack for a ps3 available.
