Forums - Sales - XBox 360 now outselling the PS3 in ALL regions

Wow.

Anyone having delusions this grand must be in constant pain.

The 360 price cut in all three regions... Think that has anything to do with the sales spike?

Well, I'm going to respond to what has to be a joke post, seriously.

Japan: 360 price cut has let it be in front of PS3 for 3 weeks running now. It was able to do so also with the help of Infinite Undiscovery. Now, there are no games on the horizon until 11/20, and sales are dipping as a result. Systems don't sell without games. So it has fallen 50 percent one week, and 30 percent again this week, to squeeze by the PS3 with a modest 2k lead. As the price cut wears off more and more, it should fall back to the 5k range within 1-2 weeks, and will stay that way until the week ending 11/22, where it will be spiked with TLR and the bundle that comes with it. But then it will fall, again, after TLR falls off the charts within 3-4 weeks, and WKC comes out for the PS3 at the end of the year. PS3 will continue to outsell the 360 until the next JRPG exclusive to the system comes out.

America: 360 land. But the PS3 was walloping it in it's own country (relatively speaking, of course) for 2/3 of the year, but then the price cut happened, and now it's enjoying time above PS3. But even with the price cut, 360 sales are falling at a steady clip, Week over week, back to normal levels, which is parity with PS3, or PS3 with a slight lead, something that has happened for the better part of the year. It will stay this way for the time to come as both systems have anticipated games coming out and releasing in the same time frame: Fable 2, and LBP on 10/21; And Gears and Resistance 2 in November. Sales will remain largely the same, or in the favor of one of the consoles depending on the pending economic status, and a future price cut of PS3, or aggressive bundling of either system. It's really a toss up.

Others: PS3 land. 360 had a price cut and soared above PS3, but PS3 only went down by 1k this week. It hardly had an effect on PS3 sales, unlike the American cut, which dwindled PS3 sales. It should be between 1-3 weeks when PS3 is back above 360 in Others for good, at least until MS's next 360 price cut.

I should note that Sony is not in the most economic position to a price cut, but it shouldn't be ruled out. They haven't price cut since November of 2007 (80 Gig PS3 went from 600 to 500), so anything can happen. Especially in Japan, where one is most necessary, since software won't hit until December, it should be expected at TGS. In America and Europe, aggressive bundling of Holiday titles (LBP, Socom, and Resistance 2) should be expected, while a minor American price cut (no more than 50 bucks) should also be expected, given the current economic state.

Excellent Post DmeisterJ. Great analysis of the Situation and a great read. This should be a seperate thread +10

I dont think its 2/3rds for the Ps3 in america look at this chart. http://vgchartz.com/hwcomps.php?cons1=®1=All&cons2=PS3®2=America&cons3=X360®3=America&start=39453&end=39719 more like 50/50?

Proud Owner of  a Wii and Xbox 360 and a PS3(When I get the money)

I said 2/3 because January - August = 2/3 of the year.

And before the price cut, PS3 was above 360 (in August).  I said "relative" because earlier in the year, 360 would win America weekly, and in the middle, PS3 was winning America weekly.

The Arcade is still such a terrible deal, no HDD takes away so many of an HD systems pluses (like being able to download anything substantial off of XBLA)...I could see getting an Arcade as a secondary system only. Not as a primary. I would just pony up the dough for the better model.

WTF? I can download ANY games i want on XBLA. It comes with a 256 meg memory card you know?

The only thing really arcade owners misses out on are demos.

In fact I'd say the harddrive is mostly pointless unless one absolutely needs to download game demos.
