Forums - Nintendo - DSi is here!

I'll be buying one of these as an upgrade to my aging DS. Both the cameras and the SD card slot are great new additions. The loss of the GBA slot is a bit unfortunate, as it served as a pseudo expansion slot in prior DS models. Maybe we'll see a wireless pedometer-like GBA slot for it ... though that would make playing Guitar Hero: On Tour kind of weird. Also, can anyone else see Destination Software, Inc. slyly marketing their products like they're first-party DSi software titles?

Does the camera have video recording support as well as stills?

This!  I really wanna be able to take and edit videos on the go.  I hope to hell this thing is hacked, it would make a great PDA. However i'm not sure if I will be able to watch videos on with the low power processor of the DS.

Is the 2 touchscreen thing a rumor or reality?

Anyone know anything about the browser that comes with it?

Follow the link to the original Engadget article. They've debunked the two touch screen rumour. The browser included with it will be a version of Opera.

Pros:
-Service similar to Wii shop channel
-SD compability
-camera(s)
-browser included
-bigger screens

Cons:
-No GBA slots (rendering backward compability dissapear and Guitar hero: on tour useless)
-Battery life halved

I know it's just GBA slot removed..but still it's some lose if you ask me....unless they'll put the gba games in this DSi shop service and let the console "emulate" the game like it was inserted in GBA slot (however Guitar Hero still won't work).

About battery life..meh, I don't care anyway. Might get annoying at first, but I could get used to it after some time.

It's interesting I guess, but decreased battery life and no GBA slot means I'm not going to buy it.

damn i just bought my ds lite black cobalt a while ago.

well my phone got mp3 player i got a 8gb microsd in it.
that +5mpx so the new things are really worth getting it for me.

I'll bye the DS Lite, I want backwards compability!

Well that's going to be my fourth DS

If only they had not touched the battery life. I can live without the GBA slot ( the my first sony quality camera too), don't see any significant difference in size , but i do love the added internet, and the larger stylus. But why did they have to mess with the batter life. Can't they just add a larger battery?

I am also failing to see why the DSi should cost 50% more than the current DSL? What exactly merits the steep increase in price?

Nintendo may be making history here with the only system where an upcoming upgraded system result in increased demand for the current system. Will the DSi be sold as an alternative to the DSL or as its replacement i wonder?

I was thinking the same thing... and dreading it.
