Forums - Microsoft - Best looking XBox 360 game? Worst?

LOL at the Bioshock. It's good but nowhere near best. I'd have to say so far:

Best = Brothers In Arms HH (just played it and it's very pretty.)

Worst = Vampire Rain (It's almost Dreamcast graphics.)

In the making best graphics go to Gears 2 then Far Cry 2. (It was the other way round but since the recent Gears 2 footage I changed my mind.)

hmmm, what was lacking in Bioshock that makes you think that?

I have not played brothers in Arms, so I can't honestly do a comparisson. Would you mind doing a comparisson please?

Really depends on what your trying to define as "best". There are many "bests" out there, IMO.

GTAIV had a ton of stuff going on at once. That was a graphical beast, IMO.

As for worst - What are we defining X360 exclusives? I'd say Beautiful Katamari was pretty bad, but it was meant that way.

Best looking = Best graphics in a game.

Best game play would be a completely different story. But I would say BioShock had the best graphics and the best game play so far on the XBox 360.

Bioshock as you know is very enclosed. Lets not take anything away from the game though it's water effects are the best this gen. Sometimes looking absolutely real. However the characters can look like wax models. Especially when you see the dead ones. It's pretty but the texture detail is not amazing.

BIA : HH - Excellent draw distance, very smooth frame rate. Characters and their animations are much better. Texture work is also very high. The real visual splendor though comes when your pinned down with your squad and attacking the enemy who are held up in a building. The picket fences breaking up as you struggle not to get shot. Soldiers with very good gore effects getting blown away, all while the scenery breaks down. (Not all scenery but most stuff). It definately looks and plays smoother than COD4 and from the videos COD5. You may not like the strategy of the game, but it's the best war game Ive played yet. So much realism.

Best: Gears of War, although Mass Effect is flat out gorgeous at times.

Worst: Operation Darkness. It looks like a mid level PS2 game.

While I would give Bioshock best atmosphere(the environments are gorgeous) I think best graphics is a stretch. The charater models are just ugly IMO. The models in Mass Effect were lovely but too many of the environments were bland and pop in detracted from its looks. So that gives Gears the nod for best looking game overall IMO.

Its all subjective. Many will prefer a particular art style over technical prowess. Some might choose Banjo or Fable for their art style. I'm pretty happy with the way Fable 2 looks myself but I have a feeling the best looking 360 game crown will pass to Far Cry 2 or Gears 2.

its a hard call, bioshock had to much lag time in its loading of textures, tight now the best hing i have seen as far as graphics goes to teh darkness

the leather texture, lighting, and appearance of Jackie's coat at times is fantastic,
there wear times it looked real to me

not to mention various other aspects in that games as well, given the animations are a little stiff but the game looks great

I like Lost Odyssey's graphics.

Mass Effect is *gorgeous* at some points. It's a shame the illusion disappears as soon as you move the stick and are greeted with fps drops.
