I seriously hope Sony doesn't keep trophies as their achievements.  There are two reasons that the 360's achievements work so well:

1. They're simple.  Text.  Description.  Value.
2.  They're easy to share with friends.

It's easy to see your score and it's easy to compare your score with friends.  With Sony's trophy system, it's harder to see a trohy and immediatly identify that with a game and know what the trophy it's for.  It's almost annoying to actually enter someone's home as opposed to simply comparing two columns.

Hopefully finds some way to better get their achievement system across or lose it all together. 

makes no sense since emulation does not cost any money to sony and 40gb does not cost 100$. Sony could retail the old 20 GB version without the emotion engine and extra 20 gb hdd for 399$.
And so we could have a 40GB Ps3 without the chrome trim, Wi-Fi Lan, Flash Card readers and the emotion engine for 399$. Its possible. If sony could launch this by Christmas, it might bode well with the majority of ps2 owners who havent hopped fences so far.

As for FFXIII Squre have never delivered a Play Station Final Fantasy title on time, it usually arrives 2-3 years into the consoles lifetime.

I know.  I was sad to see the 20GB go.  They might be saving money on something else by now and will be able to afford it.  No BC would be stupid, however. 

I don't buy it because no BC at all doesn't really lower the cost much more, the removal of the emotion engine already did the cost lowering on that front.

The FF XIII one I guess is possible but why would localization take so long? If they had given a more logical reason I would have given the rumor more stock.

 Thats what I was thinking. First thing that came to mind was a simultaneous WW release, kind of like MGS4. I don't see why they would do this, however. 

I always thought FFXIII is not out in Japan till Dec 2008, same with FFXIII Versus. I've seen this date on ign.com since beginning of this year and had expected it to the US version to release late 2008 and early 2009 respectively. So personally, I didnt' think it was a rumor.  (thus my signature for the 2008 wishlist).

I doubt both the rumors.

The farther back FFXIII's release date is, the less likely it is to remain exclusive to PS3. Sony needs something to get its PS3 sales out of the basement in Japan. Unlike in Europe and the US, the PS3's cost isn't as much of an issue.

As I understand it, the 40 Gig PS3 will be available for 17 days, at which point it will be replaced by the 50 Gig PS3 for $449. They will then reveal a 60 Gig, backwards compatable 60 Gig PS3 for $499, and drop the price of the 50 Gig to $429 before eliminating it completely in favor of a 100 Gig PS3 for $799 that will include four controllers and a free copy of Super-Rub-A-Dub. In order to attract female gamers, a month later they will unveil a pink 70 Gig PS3 complete with 2 gamepads, vibrating remote, and a coupon for Vagisil for just $579.

I doubt it's true. But if it was, it'd be the culmination of Sony's succesful fight to keep everyone completely confused about what the hell they're putting on the shelves and how much it will cost.
