Forums - Gaming - Why Silent Hill banned in Australia

Because Australia does not currently allow a R18 rating to be given to games.

C'mon K-Rudd, you went to a strip bar just before the election, why cant we enjoy a bit of murder n mayhem on the screen??

Dickheads.

They refused to classify Fallout 3 because it supposedly showed positive effects of in-game drug use, yet had no problem whatsoever with Haze.

It takes all the state attorney generals to agree to a R rating. The only one that is holding out is SA and he wont even discuss the matter. He has just made his mind up and thats that. He wont listen to any reasoned debate on the matter.

-UBISOFT BOYCOTT!-

I feel sorry for you guys. You don't get to play any good games. GTA IV, Fallout 3, Silent Hill - all banned.

Sweet fracking christ. It's a game.

I'm glad I don't live in Australia.

Australia is a joke banning games. People will buy them from the black market or  torrent downloads of the games.
The Australian game industry suffers due to idiot bureaucrats making BS decisions which they know nothing about.

Yeah...but they got Kangaroos...they are cooler than any game.

This is getting ridiculous. It's not happening to games no one cares about either - these are quite popular series. We've had GTAIV, Fallout 3 and now Silent Hill Homecoming which have all been or have to be edited.
I am so annoyed that we don't have an R18+ rating. Without it they are denying so many people the game or the game in it's original form.

Yahtzee's not going to be happy about this...

Aussie PS3 owners, import.
