I'd like to believe game ratings are always fair. Then again I'd like to believe Jeff G. didn't get fired from Gamespot for writing a negative review on Kain & Lynch. I'd like to believe....
IGN has always been my fav of the online review sites and Game Informer for magazines. I tend to agree with majority of their reviews. However a common formula I found for for judging scores between Gamespot and IGN was *if IGN = 9.0 then Gamestpot = 8.0. They always seemed to go a point lower.
Game reviewers have very little credibility these days with the high reviews handed out to lots of games which did not deserve them.
these companys reviews dont matter to me.... both of them gave MGS4 a 10/10 but i probally give it a 0/10 for havin no interest in it.... people have different tastes in games.
Film reviewers are more reasonable. If somethings 3 stars they give it 3 stars. 3 star games get 4 stars.
“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
Reviewers should not read other reviews.
If they can't form their own opinion, they shouldn't be writing.
