The evermoving goals of hope, not 2008 anymore, not 2009 anymore, now the year of playstation will be sometime next gen.

I liked how you left out nintendo from your post, are they supposed to go back to cartridges for the wii 2?

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

I hope to god discs of any type arent used. They are slow to load, flimsy, and require more storage space. Either SD size cards or pure downloads. DIE DISCS DIE. Dam I hate old tech.

Man i'd love to agree with you, but my crappy capped internet just can't.

who knows, next gen things might improve along those lines

errr a while back I read someone saying MS could go with HD DVD cause the tech is there and the price will be ridiculous as it's not used anymore.... That made sense as it would have given a larger disc size for low manufacturing costs.

BR is surely attractive, but anyone that doesn't see it as one of the main reasons for Sony's failure to follow the PS1 and PS2 domination is willingfully blind... is a BR drive is at a $30-50 cost on the market then yeah sure... otherwise it'll be too much of a dead weight to carry for the next Xbox

Am I the only one who thinks the next xbox will be a lot more then just a gaming console?

DVR, Motion Controller, PC (Ability to install windows/office/play certain PC games), with a couple of slots for multiple internal HDD's, with the release of a handheld gaming device (ie: PSP) that will connect together, etc?

i guess im a bit crazy

You could still be right!  Besides this gen has a lot of life yet so I don't think anyone will be in a hurry to come up with a new console!  Wait long enough and discs may not be neccessary!

Wii - 3810 4459 0841 8442 - (Message me to add me)

360 - LuminalACE

PS3 - AUS-ACE

Indeed, I thought MS said the future was downloading / streaming, so I doubt they'll go for the Bluray adoption.

There is no way they can completely rely on downloadables. Not everyone will have the means to download not to mention the download costs. I think it will be an option otherwise they will lose many customers, not to mention the affect on the retail industry of games.

Nintendo = Innovation = Wii

further to the downloading of games for the next gen goes, according to this article we'll all be pretty stuffed internet-wise unless there's a big shift to IPv6
only about 600 million IP's left!

OMG !! XBox is doomed !

Thank you for pointing that !

More seriously, full download is the key (internet + storage = cheap). There is no such thing as download cost ...

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

it wont be that bad b/c if the market leaves them no option micro will just get them for a monopoly so Sony will have to play nice

after all micro is the author on monopoly right?
