...What's better about the GH:WT2 instruments again?

Drums appear to have better quality and have one more pad. Also, there will be midi connectivity allowing you too hook up other instruments for example any electronic drum kit.

Guitar has new slide feature in neck and GH guitars seem to have better quality.

Rock Band 2 drums have very good quality, and are expandable to have 2 more pads than GH:WT, as well as the option for double bass (from my understanding). I've played the RB2 drums. They are leaps and bounds better than RB1. Unless you prefer the 3 tom setup of GH:WT, I don't forsee any major differences between the sets.

Why buy Rock Band over Guitar Hero? Harmonix isn't bending you over and screwing you like Activision/Neversoft are in terms of compatability. It was a great thing when I got to play Rock Band 2 a few days ago...The person was using Rock Band 1 and 2 guitar controllers, modified Rock Band 2 drums, and a set list that is roughly the size of every single guitar hero game made. combined. Why? Because the entire idea of Rockband is modular accessibility - What worked in Rock Band 1, your DLC, instruments, and even songs are still going to work in Rock Band 2, 3, 4 and 5. Guitar Hero? We're on #6 (including Aerosmith and 80s) that have virtually no ability to merge track listings. Not only that, any songs from the previous games are going to have functionality with GH:WT's new instruments, which is retarded.

Sure, if you want to make and download niche songs that no one's heard of, get GH:WT. But if you actually want to play songs made by bands, and not get screwed over when Guitar Hero Rocks the Nurisng Home comes out with no compatability with Guitar Hero: Regional Tour, then feel free to do it. As for me, I'll take spending $65 for RB2, merging RB 1 + DLC over your $120+ GH:WT package that nullifies any purchase in the series you have ever made.

I have the RB2 drums and the quality still sucks ass. The pads are more quiet but are still quite loud and the feel like shiat with almost no rebound. Are you sure about the expansion pads? My understanding is that you can plug in cymbals but they merely clone the existing pads. As far as double bass, that is very easy to mod by using a simple Y cable.

I really don't understand all the hatred by some of the RB people. It's almost as bad as the system haters. Why not just wait til both games are released and try them out without pre-judging them. The fanboyism is getting a bit ridiculous. Why not just be glad there is competition that will drive both companies to produce better products.

@mrstickball

Can u play RB1 (wii version) songs & RB1 trackpacks on RB2 (wii version)? If not, how is that an argument to get RB2 over GH:WT?

+ GH is using Nintendo's recommended way of connecting the guitar, drums, & mike.

As for instruments, RB instruments are terrible. My friend has it for ps3 & his pedal broke twice & his drum broke once. Also, the guitar in RB doesn't recognize overdrive half the time & the buttons feel much better on GH guitar than RB guitar.

Still waiting on GH: World Tour instrument compatibility with RB2.
PLEASE let them work.

With that stupid problem of compatibility, I'll buy the 360 version instead. I really wanted the Wii version especially because most people I know own a Wii and not a 360 so I could easily carry the instruments with me. Too bad.

Also, I'll buy the bundle for GH:WT because the instruments seems of better quality.

I think it should always be compatible. Having 2 consoles is one thing. It doesn't take too much room but 2 sets of drums, that's just ridiculous. And I'm not one to prefer Harmonix/MTV over Activision. I don't like both companies and I much rather play both games than choose one.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

Compatibilty makes sense but MTV/EA didn't want to do it with the Wii version because they were looking to make a quick buck.

All those people arguing that GHWT will be better...consider this-

Guitar Hero was started and designed by Rockband people(Harmonix). They did guitar hero 1 and 2. Then were ripped off for GH3 since they wanted to make rockband instead. Now that Rockband blew the Guitar Hero franchise out of the water...they are being ripped off again. Lets see if the copier can be better than the original...I seriously doubt it.

So I assume you will be buying Rock Revolution day one right? Since there is no chance someone copying another game could possibly improve over the original. Guitar Hero was a rip off of Guitar Freaks, and Rock Band ripped off Drum Mania and Karaoke Revolution to make its game complete. So you should support the original source of all these ideas and screw those lameoids over at Harmonix who did nothing but rip-off Konami.

All of these sub-games like Aerosmith and Rock the 80s proves that Activision is all about milking that license.

Rock the 80s was done by Harmonix and was one of the main reasons I was leary of Rock Band at first (they did vindicate themselves). How do you feel about Rock Band: AC/DC? It gets released November 2nd and I am praying the "full" track listing out there currently is dead wrong or it is a massive rip off at 18 songs for $40.

People just need to get over the fact that a successful genre will attract multiple developers. Just because you're first or second doesn't mean that you will always be the only developer or the best. Every genre started with one developer and other developers came in and copied the best features and added their own.
