Forums - Nintendo - Rock Band 2 Wii WILL have DLC

Looks like they finally wisened up. From a financial perspective it was stupid not to have it.

While unannounced, MTV Games has confirmed that the upcoming Nintendo Wii version of ``Rock Band 2'' will offer the same online functionality -- i.e. song downloads and Internet multiplayer modes -- as the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 versions. The PS2 version, however, will not include online connectivity.

thats great news because really, it was the only thing holding it back when
compared against the new GH... now, its more of a matter of song playlists included
i guess

nice find :)

And Harmonix just dealt a major blow to the GH:WT Wii crowd.

Good to hear that Wii owners will get the functionality. Hopefully Harmonix can figure a way out to bridge RB1 and RB2 for Wii owners (and the track pack), to give Wii owners the true Rock Band experience.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Now I'm not sure if I should get World Tour or Rock Band 2.....

The better instruments and midi still makes me more interested in GH:WT, but this is good for people that want RB2.

...What's better about the GH:WT2 instruments again?

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Time to dust off those SD cards...

Howmany songs can Wii hold on its internal memory? Average song is about 20-30 megs?

I'd gladly buy both if the instruments were compatible. Unfortunately, it seems that the Wii versions of these games have the worst compatibility of the current gen systems: http://www.joystiq.com/Instrument-Compatibility-Matrix/

If by "dealt a major blow" you mean "decided not to be lazy as shit an put more than a half assed effort into porting the game this time around" then I would agree with you. GH:WT announced it would have DLC months ago. You don't deal a major blow to your competition by copying their feature list. They would have to one up it to do anything significant.

hmm wasn't this the same group that couldn't put DLC on the Wii because it had no HDD and wasn't possible. The only reason they are putting DLC on Wii is because they don't want to get crushed by GHWT. Will this help. Mostly to the un educated. Those who are still in know will likely in the end side up with GHWT. So far the instruments are higher quality and it's still has the music creator which in the end will give it a storming massiving song list. Though much like any fan made stuff you need to weed out the sucktastic.

I was going to get RB, but as soon as I found out it had no DLC I had big doubts following what they said. Then I heard GHWT DLC. Total sold. There never was an excude it was a lazy port.

1 version too late Harmonix. 1 version too late.
