hiya, just bought a philips 26" hdtv and im very happy quality looks amazing, feels a bit weird playing cod4 on such a big tv lol

i want to ask do i need the hdmi cable to get the most of the hd capabilities??

That's a great deal. I recently bought a 42" LG LCD ($1110) and a Samsung upconverting DVD player ($80).

HDMI makes a BIG difference, especially with an upconverting DVD player.  Don't buy them in the store, you can get an excellent deal on amazon.

Yes HDMI gives you the full screen Experience. I Recommend

I have an 27 inch Samsung lcd with hdmi cable and the picture is better.

If this thread is to believed then they don't make that much of a difference.

Unless you're using 1080p, it doesn't matter much.

But you can get HDMI cables for about $4 apiece on sites like Monoprice so you might as well go for it.

It kind of depends on what you're using now. Are you using composite or component cables? If you're just using composite (3 hookups instead of 5) then yes it will definately make a difference. But if you're already using component cables then you should be fine on a 26 inch.

I've noticed differences between component and HDMI on a 46" 720p TV...I'd definitely get an HDMI cable since they're cheap.

On a 26", you probably won't notice it.  But even if you don't notice hardly any difference, it's a digital cable, so you won't possibly lose any quality in the cable compared to analog composite or component...it's either all there or not.
