Forums - Sony - Believing Blu-ray will succeed doesn't make sense!!!?

Blu-ray is still doing better than DVD was at this timepoint. I don't understand those who say it will flop. What did they expect, that Blu-ray will beat DVD on day one?

The Blu-Ray market is set to triple in 2008 (both stand-alone player sales and software sales) compared to 2007. According to research data a vast majority of PS3 owners in the US own HDTVs and watch Blu-Ray movies. With pricedrops PS3, standalone Blu-Ray player and software sales will go up.

I think a lot of negatism has to do with console fans of rival consoles, especially many 360 fans want things to be negative because it comes by default with the PS3 and not with other consoles.

You are right Rome wasn't built in a day. Not everyone will buy a HDTV, PS3 or standalone Blu-Ray player day one. DVD's unusual quick victory over VHS (just 6 years until it outsold the at the time well established format) has been widely applauded.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

I read on a website that blueray movies are going to drop in price in a month or 2. I forott the website.

Looming recession..... quality of movies coming out or lack there of... and price.

I remember when DVD first came out, I had a massive VHS collection and I was of the mindset that I would only buy a DVD if the movie was fantastic and had great special effects which actually warranted the purchase. Fast forward to now I have a PS3 but none of the movies released so far have any appeal to me. And especially at the price tag.

only an estimared 12% of people have an hdtv so once those start selling like mad so will blu-ray, its as simple as that.... btw this guy is not to bright

My PSN Name is:  EvilChronos    add me if u want :)

END OF GENERATION PREDICTIONS  "9-21-08"

PS3=130M     360=90M     Wii=120M     DS=130M     PSP=70M

Other Prediction: The PS3 will overtake the 360 XMAS of 09  "9-21-08"

it's funny how he says :
"yes , DVD started slow too but....."
and "according to NPD numbers ps3 barely sold 185000"
really stupid

And a bunch of other consumer electronics companies were definitly putting UMD in every product they were making, such as standalone UMD players, UMD laptops, and even TV's with built-in UMD slots.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Ignore him. He's probably been crying over it for a while and decided to move on to blu ray as he wants it not to fail as well. Considering his name I think the failure of UMD has done much more than made him shed tears. Hes become delusional as well.

Lol spidey I think you miss the sarcasm train.

Spidey just failed so horribly. The more birthday presents I get the merrier!
