Both games seriously need gameplay videos out now...

This topic was a very simple question and did not need to get pulled through the mud with this fanboy console vs. console nonsense. I want all insulting comments about the 360 ended and all comments about PS3 owners playing favorites ended also. If it continues, I will hand out more warnings and bans, plus this topic will be locked.

Ok, now that I'm done with the fun part, let me get in on answering the OP.

I can't see why either game is very much anticipated at all at this point. Both are simply CG trailers to the public right now and just about nothing is known about either game. Picking one game over another at this point is basically an argument over who likes dark colors vs. who likes a full spectrum of colors, who likes playing with a boy vs. who likes playing with a girl, and many other miniscule differences. Both of them look like trailers from the same game in my mind. I can't even tell the differences in character design by those short movies.

I won't be a bit surprised if sometime down the line, Square Enix announces that Versus has been transmuted into a CG movie instead of a game.

That said, I hate the designs from both games and, given the lack of concrete information, can't see any reason to be excited about them other than the fact that they both contain "Final" and "Fantasy" in the title. That in itself just doesn't do it for me these days.

I'll probably end up getting both games but I'm not really waiting for one more than the other. Just my general interest in jRPGs has diminished over the last few years to the point that I get bored of them half way through. So I guess I'm equally anticipating spending $120 on two games I probably won't ever beat. Still, I expect the main game to be better just because it's the main game.

Verses is anticipated because of its developer. The Kingdom Hearts guy. That's why. Otherwise, it wouldn't be nearly as anticipated as the main game, which itself is anticipated because it's a main, numbered Final Fantasy game, which are always good.

It's kinda like asking why the next Zelda game is anticipated. There isn't even a trailer, and if there was, it wouldn't be the reason the game was hotly anticipated. It's anticipated simply because it's a Zelda game, and Zelda games are good.

We're on different pages here. My point was, people are choosing between both games for the oddest of reasons, without having enough info on either. Someone stated they liked Versus because the assume with the dark blacks in the trailer it would automatically have a dark story, which interests him, and the colors in FF XIII give it the assumption that the story is less intense. None of this is public knowledge, so I'm basically asking why this and many other assumptions are being made by simply looking at two 90 second CG trailers which probably don't represent much of what either game is about. Look at those choosing Versus or XIII because of the gameplay differences, when we don't know jack shit about either fighting system at this point.

i am looking forward to both. i am anticipating wats new in ff13, how ground breaking will the game be, and also i am a huge fan of old school style FF, like square had promised in ffversus

I am gonna get both, but if you take a look to the game trailers, you easily can see that versus looks better, no only the graphics but the story is pretty amazing.
You will see how people will love versus at the end, why? because is the first time ff looks a little diferent from the others chapters, XIII is just another ff with a new story, and versus is something totally new and innovating
