Forums - Microsoft - MS confirms Xbox 360 Slim at Delhi event? Plus more.

No way MS will anouce the "smaller" (I don't think that there will ever be an Slim one) ths year, this will mine their sales. The anoucement will be sometime near the relise of the product.

Where would the HDD go? Maybe a slim one that can't have a HDD? As the HDD is pretty wide, the system would have to be at least as wide as the HDD...

This is Rumouriffic right now.

No its not that fanboy that is hard to kill it's the one your showing. The RRODing has continued and sure it has been down from the early high percentage but doesn't mean its only teh same level as PS3 or Wii. Hell its not even close. We all admit its gotten better but you are the one being a fanboy if you are saying its on PS3 or Wii level.

Now of course any can get better and I'm sure 360's hardware issues will get better as it did with the Falcon. As for the slim sounds like a good idea and shows MS's need to continue to do things like this. I don't know how effective it would be but it's worth a shot. But seems to be still a rumor anyways so I'll wait for official confirmation.

Here the thing, Zucas, there's no way to show exactly how low RROD-ing is after the Falcon launched. So it's hard to prove that it's as low as the PS3/Wii, but the fact is, it's a lot lower. Looking at the NeoGAF thread, Falcon RROD's make up a small number of RRODs both in the entirety of X360 failures (of the 1,300 they have archived), but still make up a incredible minority of RRODs. What happens when you go from seeing 60-70+ failures a month of a specific hardware version, to under 1 per month? What range does that put you into?

If you can point to any sort of semi-conclusive report that's been put out in the past 3-4 months that have hard numbers on X360 failure rates that are confirmed Falcon units, I'd love to see it. Because NeoGAF's master thread is about the closest thing I've seen.

Exactly there is no way to tell because there is no conclusive data.  Thus I'm glad you finally changed your wording to its a lot lower rather than as low as PS3/Wii which is assumption on your part which is what I said against.

Only data I could come up with is ancedotal data which is worthless as always so I got none.  Which is why I don't make assumptions that its on PS3/Wii level.

its still happening.

many of the people i know got rrod.
and then the replacement unit got rrod a month later .

its not a huge as before 30% but its still should be around 10%.

i believe the new jasper will bring it down to 5%-10% but its not going to disappear til a total redesign happen.

Jo21,

Care to offer any evidence concerning RROD with Falcon units? Considering your a diehard Playstation 3 fan, I find it hard to believe your going to post here, acuse me of being in denial and then offer no real evidence other than vague anecdotal musings from your friend.

I posted a very strong argument for the fact that RRODs among Falcon and newer are on a major decline from older Xenon and refurbed Xenons.

So if you could, to prove I am indeed in denial....Offer some actual evidence. I posted mine. Now post yours. Give us some solid info on MFG dates and batch numbers of your friends RROD experiences. Most Microsoft fans are interested in knowing solid batch numbers that have had RROD, so you could contribute a great deal by giving some good evidence about Falcon RROD issues.

Otherwise, I have a hard time believing you. I know people that have had RRODs, and obviously this forum is a place to vent RROD fusterations. Yet despite that, I'd love for you to research how many VGC-ers have had Falcon RROD issues. Because last I checked, the tally stood at 0 users that could in any way, produce a batch number that corresponded with Falcon-built units.

@DMeisterJ - As I said in my post, everyone is thinking outside the box when it comes to HDD intergration. You could easily put the HDD somewhere else other than where the current docking station is. I imagine you could easily put it on top of the unit, just above where the current "top" of the system is.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Right. Therefore it's an assumption both ways - I could say that it's as low as the PS3/Wii, and be right. Likewise, you could say its 30% and possibly be right (although that scenario is very very unlikely). Anecdotal info says it's very low, but there's no aggreggate to say where the Falcon stands against the PS3/Wii.

Ancedotal sales are worthless and they always have been.  They give a general idea of a small minority which really doesn't help at all.  So I guess you could say its an assumption both ways but I personally won't make an assumption based of ancedotal sales because I won't come with an estimate that I'm satisfied with.

They could just mold the top of the box (as long as it isn't curved) to fit the HDD there.
