Forums - General - So who won the debate?

About the Palin/ Biden debates. Palin is known as a good debater. She has won debate champs and the like.

So she know how to do it. The only question is whether or not she will have the knowledge.

One thing in her favor is debate questions are VERY opened ended, unlike the gotchya questions of Couric and Gibson.

Meaning she can just bullshit her way out of her ignorance.....

McCain's stories were boring and made him seem like an old uncle telling me boring stories. Not presidential at all. Those are for the conventions, not the debates.

@bigjon, that Huffington Post link was mostly links and videos from other sources, and very informative. It wasn't your regular Huffington Post stuff. I don't know about you, but I actually read some stuff at Fox. I think you should read some liberal news too.

I think that Obama took Part 1 by an inch, he had a really good open. And he played his robin hood ideas well (take from rich give to poor.. blah blah blah).

McCain slayed him on the 2nd Part. He kept drawing on his experiance and obama kept going in circle. Kerry tried the eye off the ball thing in 04... did not work to well for him.

HOWEVER. The economy is more imporant right now so I made it a minor win overal for mccain I expect a small bump, but Obama to still have a slight lead. I thought there was a few time McCain could have buried him into the ground but did not.

I also found Obama very annoying. I wish he would just shutup and let McCain finish before he countered. He tried to talk over mccain 2-3 times, I did not recall McCain doing the same. Obama needs to realize it is not a talk show, and you wait for the other person to finish.

I'm watching the replay right now. McCain cut off Lehrer just as much as Obama cut off McCain.

Currently playing: Civ 6

Apparently CNN had a live audience response ticker, and every time McCain spoke both Democrats and Independents turned their knobs down, and the Independents went up every time Obama spoke. Independents think Obama won on every single issue, and the debate as a whole.

1) Democrats are more enthusiastic about Obama than Republicans are about McCain.

2) There are more Democrats than Republicans.

3) Therefore, Obama has more supporters, so McCain needs a majority of Independents.

4) Obama is winning the Independents.

5) OH SNAP!

yea I watch and read CNN and NBC...

here is how I picture it

CNN is the like Foxnews. Moderate, but definitly standing on a side. And yes Foxnews news is moderate.

The You have NBC and Glenn Beck, One is on the left and one is on the right but they are somewhat legit to both sides (unless you are exteme)

Then you have Huffington, Air America and such vrs. Limbaugh, hannity, and whoever. If you are on the other side of the spectrum at all you not only igonore the source, but you have a deep seeded hatred (ok, maybe a bit strong) and take everything they say as BS because to you most of it is.

You see I am centrist but on the right side of the middle. I can listen to Limbaugh, I reconize his biases but agree with him some. I have a really hard time taking anything seriously from Huffington and Air America. But the good thing about the 3rd group is people know they are biased and people can see it though that glass. The first and Second group it is more sneaky, which make it more dangerous.

Like Cnn won't come out and trash Palin(really bad), but alot of the time I go there and see about 4 negative articles about here(troopergate... etc)

They are biased more about what they report more than how they report it (first group) the second group actually reports it with a slant (takes things out of context etc.)

Foxnews is not moderate by any means. Its the msnbc of the right (even more so). My dad calls it strongly biased and he tries to spin for mccain every time i argue with him.

Edit: Polls showing Obama won overall and with independents. Yay!

I just wish he would have talked over McCain during his long rambling stories rather than cutting him off in the middle of the bits that actually mattered.

Edit: And fox isn't moderate by any means.

foxs news is not blatantly biased. Slanted at worse. Sometimes they are actually too nice to the dems so people do not call they biased.

Although the Myers-Brigs personality test has issues, it works very well for a rapid and rough classification on how an individual deals with and views the world ...

People who are Sensing-Thinking will probably want an indepth discussion on policy points so they can fill out their spreadsheet in order to compare who is the better candidate.

People who are Sensing-Feeling would probably want to hear the life stories and personal struggles of John McCain in order to get a gut-feeling if he is an appropriate leader.

People who are Intuitive-Feeling would probably just be looking at the candidates and trying to feel a connection.

People who are Intuitive-Thinking would probably just try to listen to the platforms and see which of the platforms felt like it made more sense.

i don't know i've seen some fox stuff and i didn't think they were very nonpartison. although it could just be that my views are there targets, they just seem very elitist to me, and make me feel thiiiiiiiis big. (thumb and index finger in a pinching motion)
