Forums - General - So who won the debate?

Ok, Yea some of the some that comes out of there is really out there. But yea I can agree with that.

Sorry I scolded you, I just get alot a crap about Foxnews and whatnot... : )

I really think the part about the economics is a bit off. Obama won, barely. I would call it a tie in substance, Obama great delivery of the opening line gives him the slight edge.

McCain did not lie. He spun things, Obama did it alot too ( the whole Henry Kissenger thing, he took him out of context)

Yeah, I agree.
However, I think the quote of the night was definitely where Obama said:
"John wants to pretend that the war started in 2007," says Obama. "The war started in 2003. At the time when the war started you said it would be quick and easy, you knew where the weapons of mass destruction were, you were wrong. You said we would be greeted as liberators, you were wrong."
That WMD is gunna hurt in the morning. It was such an offensive couple sentences 'you were wrong, you were wrong.'
I think McCain did a lot better than I expected ftr.

I also think Obama said he agreed way too much. Points go to McCain for that one.

EDIT:However, I did notice that at one point about the 700B$ bill, Obama said "I agree", and then took anything McCain just said (because the question was repeated), and McCain was left with a wtf do i say now look on his face.

I feel like being an ass and doling out cheap shots.

Did anyone else not give a shit about McCain's stories at all? Slowed down the debate and honestly I just don't give a damn about his stories of being a prisoner and a veteran and whatnot.

Yeah I noticed that, every time he started on one of his completely off topic stories I felt strongly compelled to change the channel.

Overall, I thought it was pretty even ...

I think both of them got the better of the other one in a similar number of exchanges without anyone scoring any major points or making any major mistakes. In a lot of ways I thought this debate was similar to the first round of a prize fight where both boxers were fairly evenly matched; they both were fairly conservative (in tone, not politics) and were mostly trying to see if they could find a weakness to exploit in the comming rounds.

it was an amazingly close battle.
very cool to watch.
I look forward to the Palin/Biden/more upcoming debates.

Oh man, I expect it to be something akin to a Will Farrell movie. I don't know why, I just do.

Well, McCain and alot of other people were told Iraq had WMD, so he and most of the house agreed on Iraq. I wish McCain would have responed to the part as being viewed as liberators... because we are. I have friends and family over there or have been over there and the general population loves us.It is the terrorist who attack us, and Radical muslim extremist.

I really think the thing that will stick (in the back of people mids when they head to the voting booths) are the doupts McCain is putting into peoples minds about the "safety" of Obama being prez. I think it is over the top a bit, but I think it will play.

About the Palin/ Biden debates. Palin is known as a good debater. She has won debate champs and the like.

So she know how to do it. The only question is whether or not she will have the knowledge.

One thing in her favor is debate questions are VERY opened ended, unlike the gotchya questions of Couric and Gibson.
