Forums - Sony - Leaked photos of Sonys new Rumble Axis? UH OH!

Bad Lucas Arts, BAD! Seems they put up images of the new feedback control along side their new Force game. Makes sense, but Ill bet it was an accident.

Im sorry, if they go through with this I am going to LOL until the end of time. My god man. Xbot fans are going to storm every message board in existence.

(For those wondering this is just an image I saw on the starwars site. There is no press release or anything confirming this. For now I just got the information from a Kotaku news story.)

Is this why Sony is bundling controllers in Europe? To make shelf space for this?

Old and fake. if you look closely you can see it is just an old Dualshock with the left analogue stick and the D-pad swapped. Is is really badly done aswell, there is no PS button and they didn't even bother to change the setting of the D-pad. You can still see the four direction arrows around the left analogue stick. You can also see where they have edited out the analogue LED.

I have no idea why Lucas Arts would show this.

Sony's not going to switch the joystick anyway...it'd be hard to develop games that would work for both kinds of controllers...it's a small detail but it changes the way games are played...

As much as I don't like those joysticks close together...putting the D-pad there would basically void it as a viable input...it's easier to move a joystick around then reach over for a D-pad...

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

"It could always be a prototype image or from a dev-kit, meaning it's not the final design (hopefully as I was hoping it'd be more smoothed out, like Logitech's wireless controller or the 360's).

Or maybe it's Photoshopped, but really, what'd be the point?"

And I have to agree. I can't see any reason why Lucasarts would put up a fake picture! :S

It's fake... no PS button.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

I wish this was real.

However, I'm pretty sure this is a mock up that has made the rounds before. I bet the person who made the site had a sense of humor and decided to put that in there knowing of the redesign rumors.

That picture is on Yahoo, not a Lucasarts page. Lucasarts probably has little control over what pictures Yahoo placed on that site.  Of course, if Yahoo is caught placing incorrect photos up there, Lucasarts will probably first send them a letter to remove it (which will most likely happen.)  I quickly skimmed the Lucasarts official site and could not find the photo, so I assume it was editted by some tool at Yahoo that thought they were being funny.

It seems the mods need help with this forum.  I have zero tolerance for trolling, platform criticism (Rule 4), and poster bad-mouthing (Rule 3.4) and you will be reported.

It would be a far better controller if the joystick were placed there, hopefully the PS4 will have the redesign. Can't think why they didn't do it in the first place for the PS3.

I think BenKenobi is right about the two different controllers being incompatable on the same game. Otherwise a canny third party company would have jumped on the idea of switching them round and had a very succcesful product.
