Forums - Sony - Yoshida: PS3's lack of fortunes in Japan is "mainly a software thing"

"Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida has told VG247 that PS3 hasn’t yet seen explosive fortunes in Japan because the right software hasn’t yet been released for the machine."

it's kinda obvious but it's good that they know it and acknowledge it and hopefully they have a plan to fix it.

I agree. Outside of MGS4 and HSG5, the only popular series in Japan to have been released on the platform thus far have been DMC4, a Yakuza spinoff, and Dynasty Warriors, the latter of which still usually hits the ps2 at some point.

The software(s) will be here soon.

What does he mean by not necessarily from intentions but from development capabilities.”?

I remember when PS3 fanboys promised 2007 would be the year to look forward to for the PS3.

On vghartz alone there was a "20 reasons to have a PS3 in 2007" thread and less than half of the games were released in 2007. In fact, many of them haven't even been released yet.

meaning that sony is still working on good /easy to use developing tools for developers to make games for PS3 easily.since 360 is easier they tend to lean towards 360 unintentionally.

late 2009 will be ridiculously good for ps3 because of final fantasy, but for the times before that they only have WKS and possibly Dark Cloud 3.

Hes a genius! Nobody could have predicted this!

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

So even the Sony Studio boss admits the PS3 library is lacking... that's not good
