Forums - General - McCain suspending his campaign

what is mccain going to do in the next two days that hasn't been done in 5 years.
He is trying to steamroll congress into passing the vote, by intimidating them with a pushed back election.
there is nothing mccain can do.
obama is right, a prez needs to be able to multitask, and the elections are more important than this right now, because he has a 100% chance of making a difference in the election and a .01% of being able to do anything in Washington.

They can fulfill their duties as members of congress and still have a debate. If they are both intent on helping the American people, it is not terribly time consuming to fly to DC and vote no on the garbage the president and the secretary are proposing. If only that were to happen; oh well, I can dream.

Aren't you clever. Funny I was thinking of you when I posted my next post, and made sure I added the foxnews comment. just for you. Don't you feel special?

Political stunt? Maybe, I see it as a win- win. He gets a political stunt combined with he actually going to do his job. Something Obama knows little about seeing he has been running for Prez for 3/4 of the time he was on the senate.

Besides... why is Obama so eager to debate now? He has been weary of doing any bipartison town hall meetings. He went back to the teleprompter because he sucks when he is not on it? I think he just does not want to look like he is bowing to Mccain. Simple as that. All that he is doing now is debate prep anyways(or so I heard).

And let me say this again. Please stop it with the Fox News Bullshit. For pete's sake I could say the same thing about 75% of the other news outlets (from the other perspective of course)

this article NOT FROM FOXNEWS (your welcome all fox news haters) seems to indicate that this blindsided Obama... I think the non- biased American thinks this is a move very big on Mccain...

Think about it... Are the Dems going to CRITISIZE him for trying to help fix the crisis? Lol, I sure hope they do.

Its not a win win though. People see through it as a political stunt. To get cought doing one in such a crisis is political suicide. And how is he going to do his job? It becomes a media circus and he is just gonna go in and try and push the bill through so he looks like a hero. Anyways, even Karl Rove on the O'riley factor said this was political suicide.

A desperate move by McCain. If it is able to change McCain's slide in the polls is yet to be seen, however I think most of them are smart enough to see it as a political ploy.

It's an interesting political ploy, it gives the impression of him being more in charge on the financial issue but it also opens him up to attacks by Obama.

What's he going to be able to say?
"Yeah that Mccain is a little girl, he left his campaign to help the country, I on the other hand would prefer to continue my campaign and not involve myself with any important"

I think it's a great idea. I am glad he decided to give up, I was starting to worry about his well being.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Since when do you guys take everything Karl Rove says for gospel? I thought he was like the next closest thing to satin... or something like that...

I think there is a chance it could backfire. But, I honestly think it is more him showing he can take iniative and such.

Also you say mccain would have no affect on the Bill? Well there are only 100 senators, make that 99 because Obama says he can multitask.. So there are 99 senators, McCain is, and has been for years a major voice of the Senate. He is seen as a centrist and in the past has worked boths sides of the aisle. I think McCain can do some good being there, I can see where Obama is coming from, he knows his presence would be worthless too.... Heck why do we need senators according to you all, appartly we elect them as potential canidates for pres now. Last I checked they pretty much run the country, and the President just signs what they give him.
