Forums - General - McCain suspending his campaign

rocket, i mean it's the same political ploy.
communists left the battle to protect the country
mccain left the campaign to protect the country
nationalists followed and lost
obama did not follow and..........

EDIT:what i mean is, this is politics at it's best.

EDIT: they weren't working together, mccain called for obama to work together.

They never said it was no strings, they put other provisions in, what I don't know though. Regulation is one I am pretty sure. I doubt they let him do whatever he wants.

Someday, you'll wake up and realize that damned near everything a politician does is a ploy of some kind.

Let's not go down that road and prematurely enact Goodwin's Law in this thread, please. We're already halfway there now that we're talking about Communists.

So did Anybody see Letterman last night? McCain was supposed to be on as a guest, but he called to cancel... and then went on CBS news.

So instead of a guest, Letterman just ripped in to him the whole time. It was bloody hilarious.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

well i know about the politics thing, everything is politics. I'm just saying how interesting of a ploy it is, when the last big thing like this to happen was almost a reverse of this situation, but exact in it's process.

what's goodwin's law?

EDIT: about that ploy's thing, my first instinct on voting day is to say, "Ok now who did that stunt help more, in the end" because generally it was a ploy, just a question of whose ploy it was.

This "crisis" isn't anywhere near the level of horrors that China faced during the Japanese invasions. The comparison is laughable, really. Just Google "Rape of Nanking" and you'll see just how badly the two compare.

Anyway, Godwin's Law:

The rule does not make any statement whether any particular reference or comparison to Hitler or the Nazis might be appropriate, but only asserts that one arising is increasingly probable. It is precisely because such a comparison or reference may sometimes be appropriate, Godwin has argued[4] that overuse of Nazi and Hitler comparisons should be avoided, because it robs the valid comparisons of their impact. Although in one of its early forms Godwin's Law referred specifically to Usenetnewsgroup discussions,[5] the law is now applied to any threaded online discussionelectronic mailing listsmessage boardschat rooms, and more recently blog comment threads and wiki talk pages.

interesting.
Well, I don't know how much world view you get in your diet, but this crisis has been affecting everyone, and is sparking a lot of resentment, and disgust.
Although not quite as bloody or atrocious, it is still a very big deal.
I forget who said it, but it was something like:
"Banks are more dangerous than standing armies."

I hope this bail-out gets put on hold until we get all the details. Let the American people vote on this I say.

EDIT: After all what was the last thing they tried to shove through the congress under the cover of darkness, without releasing the details? A sweeping amnesty bill. Boo.

McCain probably did this as a ploy, but w/e. I do not like this bill's premise. We are going to spend how much on what? Not too good of an idea imho. When the government says that "We must do this now or else!" be careful. If the Government says, "We have reached agreement," hold onto your wallets.

I really don't care if the world is disgusted and resentful. It would have been a lot more useful if everyone was disgusted three years ago.

I know I was.

same here

although maybe for different reasons. I was disgusted at the inability to work on a plan together. There was some horrible things in that one that just couldn't get sorted out.
