If you want to get the best deal it would be on black friday (if you are in NA) but the clutter fuck of the stores is just unbearable.

-_- god I need to quit Walmart before that day... perhaps I shouldn't have put Electronics as a prefrence.  As for the cuts... I see 250 usd ones on the shelves now... not discounted so I expect low end models to be at 200 this holiday... as for black fri... I'd avoid it... I've seen people get in fist fights over TVs and computers.

I bought Funai unit (Insignia brand at Best Buy, Sylvania at other place) and it was $250.00 with $50.00 gift card bonus so it's essentially $200.00.

It's a great unit, excellent player. It won't do update but to just play movie it work just fine. In a lot of way I like it better than my PS3 for blu-ray for the simple fact that it is much simpler to use. PS3 resolution switching drive me nut not to mention sometimes the handshake between HDMI would glitch and I have to reset it. (Also wife just have hard time navigating PS3 XMB ...)

If you want it to just play movie I don't see the problem with getting cheaper older unit. I mess around with HDDVD live feature thing for like 10mins and never used them again.
