@ Yokimoto

Yeah good points. I'm not suggesting anywhere that you have to only play shooters like Killzone and Call of Duty. You like certain genres of games more and thats perfectly fine. But can you honestly say you would have played Hanna Montana if it didn't have trophies? That is a question I ask myself to stop from playing a bad game. Then again you said you had fun playing it so in the end I'd say that's what really matters.

and for the question that arcturus said. I can think about some things. like this (it´s just an idea)...

there´s a difficult rating to achieve the platinum in some sites like, in Joystiq (http://playstation.joystiq.com/trophies) it goes from * to ***** (I usually don´t agree with them, because they don´t count individual trophies, but the game as a "all" (sorry I didn´t find a better word), there are better sites who do this, it´s just an example).

So, here in VgChartz we would rate the players, by the games that thay have platinuns. Let me explain...

We would choose a fair site that rates the difficults for trophies (there are some, I just don´t remember now, but I can google) OR we would rate the difficult by ourselves (it would be much trouble, since already there are a lot of games by now...). With that done let´s say... for example (I randomly chose stars...)

 - User orcturus has platinuns in killzone 2 (****), GTA 4 (*****), sonic collection (*) and uncharted (**). Ok, 12 stars in 4 games. So he´d be a player *** (3 stars).

- farciomg has platinuns in uncharted (**), mirror´s edge (****), pure (**), FIFA 09 (***), bioshock (***), sonic collection (*), buzz (**) and burnout (**). Ok, 19 stars in 8 games = 2,37 = He would be a 2,5 stars player.

do you get it?

This would not interfere in the ranking so, not in the way that is now, it would be just a plus infomation about users. That way we could know more about ourselves and who to call whore ( hehehe). So the stars could be in front of the name in the ranking or in a new leaderboard with a top 20 or so... something like this (I randomly put stars in front of the names, just to use as example), and it´d look better with the older colors.

With that I think that we would even emphasize a person that doesn´t have so much trophies, he is like 20th but only have the difficul ones, it´s a away to show that whoring for one position isn´t everything hehe.

______

well, it´s an idea. tell what you think, specially you arcturus (since it´s you who have all the trouble)... if it´s a bad idea, sorry guys.

I like your idea, thanks for detailing it here! This is something I'll have to look more into.

There are a few issues though:
 - basing the difficulty for each platinum using joystiq's rating system would be a problem. First, they are missing ratings for some games (Aquanaut's Holiday, Demon's Souls, etc). And second, some of the ratings are questionable.
- the other issue, which HideoK mentioned, is the amount of work involved to implement this, and update it every week. I'll have to look into a way to automate this. It may take some time to get that process up and running.

Thanks Arcturus!

the joystiq was just an example, the problem with them as listed in the site is:

"Difficulty Rating indicates challenge for an average player to collect a majority of Trophies in a game. Games may feature individual Trophies of greater difficulty."

But look at this in ps3trophies.com:

http://www.ps3trophies.com/games/all/all

I really agree with them, there they have a scale of 0 to 10 stars. We could "make round' (I don´t know if this expression is right...) of the grades. Like, we´d work with always adding 0,5 (4,0 - 4,5 - 5,0 - 5,5 - 6,0 - etc..). They have a good library of games. The problem it´d be that the rating is for votes, so, it could always change...

I´ll keep looking for a site.

And as you said, the major problem is the work involved to do this. But I´m sure that if something like this were added, you wouldn´t have to uptade every week. It would be something more monthly I think. Like, in the first week of each month...

But I´ll try to think about something for this too.

Why not use a sites opinion on platenum difficulty? Seems like a good option to me.

Opinion.  You just answered your own question.

Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and they all smell like shit.

I will say, I've seen some sites like ps3trophies.org that post poll threads where people vote on a 1-10 scale for platinum difficulty rating.  Something like that might be more useful than a site just giving some random and subjective rating.

Well lets see, people get a wipeout plat and then vote a 1 to make out they found it easy to make out they're so good. Pointless.

@ Hideo. No wouldn't have played it if it didn't have trophies, but we can all say that. Would you have Lord of the Rings: Conquest after it got some of the lowest ratings ever? I haven't watched a LOTR film as i hate them so much. Yet i have a platinum on it, makes no sense, but nobody would have bought it if it didn't have trophies.

You play games just for trophies yokimoto? WHY? You even stated that you didnt enjoy LOTR films, so you bought the game anyway because it had an easy platenum. Thats bad.

Also how can you not like LOTR films?!?!!?

I got it as it was an easy platinum. I enjoyed the last 5 seconds when the platinum popped up. Rest of it was bloody awful. One of the worst games ever.

LOTR is the worst franchise ever. How can you like them?

See, this is opinions. They all suck.
