By the way did you think of turning weapons off for the racebox elite phantom ? That should remove a lot of the luck and nothing says they have to be on ( I got my tournament ace trophy with weapons off).

I'm finally in Melt down, 11 cells to go....

It works for novice and skilled (for some maps), but on Elite, the A.I will ram into you on purpose (in GROUPS!) and have an unfair speed advantage. I'd say it's pretty much impossible as you need both skill AND (unfortunatly) lots of luck to win Elite/phantom races, take the "luck" factor away and the player is left with REALLY unfair/impossible odds. The times that I win are typically when I get quake/boost when I'm behind and autopilot/shield when I'm ahead.

 

Oh Ok.

I can beat skilled rapier Anulpha pass consistently by 3 seconds so I figure it would be the same when the difficulty increased, as long as you could consistently hit something like silver speed lap time you would automatically beat the AI with weapons off....

 

Anyway if I can clear Meltdown before NBA The Inside gets here ( should ship today and arrive in 4 days or so..) I have a shot at 40% trophy or so in WipeOut...



PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Ugh. I was going to get that too. But the game itself is rubbish and the trophies are pretty difficult and tedious (based on my experience with San Diego Studio's games).

It's a gamefly rental so no huge expectations, besides I haven't played a sport's game in ages...

Those Phantom races in Wipeout have to be the most frustrating thing I have ever done. Makes me want to smash my controller...

Each time you do half decently the guy behind you decides to blast you to Oblivion...

My prefered is still the 'bomb' voice announcement as the guy 10 feet in front of you drops a bomb. What the heck are you supposed to do ?????

Just way too much reliance on luck in this stupid game...

Gah down to the phantom tournament and campaign is over.
It is going to be a huge pain though.
What really bothers me with Phantom races is the crazy fast weapon pick up respawn, you get shot at NON-STOP, it's not a racer anymore with the occasionnal weapon, it's a shooter where you have to race as you shoot....

Funny thing is I coudn't get a medal in the Sol race so gave up and turned pilot assist on and first try got bronze lol...

i didnt play wipeout game before .. maybe i will try wipeout HD but is it worth it ?
