I saw HideoK playing it earlier. He's a brave little man!

I've been working on Dead Space Extraction platinum.

@HideoK: How far into Hardcore mode are you? How are you finding it?
I think I'm going to attempt it after my zealot playthrough.

I've finished my first run through of Extraction, and started my second on Impossible. I haven't started the challenges yet. Have you? I think searching for all upgrades and logs will be a pain.

I've just started the challenges and that's all I have left to do for trophies. There are few logs and items that are tricky to obtain because it is on rails and you only have a window of a few seconds. I give this one a 2 star but nothing more. I would probably say a 1 if the collectibles weren't so annoying.

Good to know. I think I'll return to Extraction after I finish with Dead Space 2.
By the way, are you using a Move controller or a Dualshock controller for Extraction? I've been using a Move controller.

Dualshock. I had a little trouble at first aiming mainly at boss portion but I am a lot better now. I 5/5 stared all chapters on my Impossible playthrough.
Dear Dead Space 2 Hardcore Mode,
I hate you!

Ah, Dead Space 2 Hardcore mode is not going well for me. I'll recount me experience so far for those that are willing to try it. So as you know you can only save 3 times. I'll first start by saying based on a trophy guide I read they recommend you get to chapter 6 or 7 to use your first save. Then 9 or 11 for your 2nd save. Then end of chapter 13 or 14 for your last save.
Right now I haven't made it past chapter 9. And here is my abbreviated story without all the excessive swearing.
Started game and got to a store in chapter 3 (i think) and thought I would be safe entering the store when enemies were charging at me because I needed more ammo. Never did that before in zealot mode, should not have tried it then. I got swarmed and died. Lost about an hour. Really dumb mistake on my part.
Was frustrated starting my next run immediately and I absolutely did not want to start over from the beginning again so when I made it safely to chapter 5 I decided to use my first save and that I would make it up for it later and make sure to get to chapter 9 on my 2nd save.
Well I got scared of dying again when getting far into chapter 7 right before a space flying section. So I would make it up again... make it to chapter 13 or at least 12 right? lol. Well turns out I made it all the way to chapter 9 before dying. Should have waited to use my 2nd save! So I kept going and I was I accidentally blew out a decompression window when standing too close to it in chapter 9. Back to the end of chapter 7. Lost about 1 hour and a half.
Started chapter 7 save again, died chapter 8. Got killed in 2 hits while waiting to escape a room without oxygen. Lost 25 minutes.
Started chapter 7 save again and died far into chapter 9. Lost another hour and half at least. Maybe closer to 2 hours. I got killed by a wall Necromorph when he shot out a pod and I didn't know the pod could blow up and kill you in 1 shot. Once again something I did not know from playing zealot. Those small pods never got me before.
Up to now about 4 hours of time lost.
Okay, so next I decided to start my chapter 5 save again and this time get to chapter 9. I was so sick and tired of playing the end of chapter 7 and chapter 8.
Started from chapter 5 again and I was doing excellent. Much better than before. I found 2 extra power nodes I missed before and I was able to take my time and save ammo by using enemy limbs. By the beginning of chapter 8, I had saved up 100,000 credits. I'm in phenomal shape. I have at least 4 medium medi-packs and 1 large medi-pack and maybe 10 more small med-packs in my inventory and at least 100 clips of plasma cutter ammo.
Then I step foot in one room in chapter 8 and got cornered into a wall with 2 necromorphs. I had tried to freeze them in stasis but I missed twice and I quickly get chopped down in 3 quick hits. Dead. Didnt have a chance to use any medi-packs. I was in disbelief. Shocked. Another 2 hours lost after starting from chapter 5. I hate you dead space 2 hardcore mode.
So about 6 hours lost so far with nothing to show for progress. It's really frustrating, but I'm determined. I'll going to be starting again from chapter 5 and I'm going to make it sure I get to chapter 9 on my 2nd save. I'm honestly too sick of replaying chapter 8. Then hopefully I can make it to chapter 13 with my 3rd save... and not get sick of playing chapter 9, 10, 11, and 12 in the process. Ugh. I should probably even play chapter 9 until the end of the game on casual so I can memorize everything ahead of me.
Then its just 14 & 15 without saving. Of course much easier said than done. My advice... if you die and lose more than an hour take a break from the game for that day before you go insane. If you don't take a break you'll probably end up rushing through the sections you already beat and make another careless mistake.
I wonder if I should start again from scratch and make it to chapter 9 on my first save. I bet I could. I'm tempted... I know 5-9 so well by now and 1-5 isn't that hard.
Edit: What an essay ^
Looks like someone is going to loose his spot in the platinum ranking !
On a side note my PS3 is worring me.
After playing for a while sometime the fans start making a lot of noise ( like if some secondary powerfull fans were kicking in). Once they kick in they don't stop until I turn it off.
It's especially common when playing GT5...
Edit : it's not a secondary fan kicking in, it's the fan kicking in to its highest setting..
