Forums - Website Topics - What is trolling?

Trolling is when intentionally posting comments to inflame hostilities. This occurs when the comment is contradictory to the popular beliefe and contains some form of BS. As an extreme example I could say the the CELL can't process it's way out of a paper bag while my NES CPU is far superior or that KoToR is inferior to say E.T. for the Atari. Then I may or may not back it up.

There are also times where some posts their reason why, but it's so short and the information is wrong. This can easily be misinterepreted for trolling. It's also very commonly used since it can make just look stupid.

In the mean time this thread is funny.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

Trolling is generally just saying something that disrupts the thread or something that breaks the forum rules.

If you would like an example in this thread of a troll, just look at Obiesluts post:

itsd trolling because on vgc people dont know what the word means and think you can call people a troll when they do not conform to popular opinion, which would be anything non nintendo related.

The wii is the best, not trolling.

The ps3 is the best, trolling.

The x360 is the best, trolling.

This is critisizing the site and making thread disrupting. Generally, on your first messup you get a warning since everyone messes up every now and then.  I'm pretty sure Obie has already been told this behavior isn't acceptable and he's been warned for other things.  So that means it's ban time for him.

there you go asuming things ... don't think

I'm sorry, I should have clarified: I'm pretty sure I've told him that before.

Also, change your avatar.

I don't get this trolling business. A week and a half back I posted that XBox 360 is faulty and that deters people from buying it and I got banned.

I seriously do not get this

Troll: is someone who posts controversial and irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community.

Controversial: Of, producing, or marked by controversy.

Irrelevant:Unrelated to the matter being considered.

Trolling is what everyone does...Face the fact.

Somehow it feels that around here trolling is disagreeing with the popular opinion.
