Didn't Lost Odyssey or Blue Dragon take the Famitsu most wanted top spot once? I think the list is about as accurate as Amazon sales ranking. Wouldn't be surprised to see GTA4 beat SO4 on the 360 though (if GTA4 is getting a Japanese release on the 360).

Maybe its a missleading title and not saying that Famistu is to trust and the meaning with this thread is that why would Gta be more popualar than Star ocean 4 which is in top 5 of rpgs.

I was always under the impression that compared to other JRPGs, Star Ocean series was actually more popular in the west than in Japan.

Perhaps but i dont see Gta be more popular than Star ocean.
No offence to Star Ocean but GTA4 will sell atleast 200,000 units in Japan so it will be close! Predicting the sales of Star Ocean will be harder! Any guesses?

SO4 sales will probably be at least 150-200k first week in Japan. GTA may be less first week, but will probably sell more lifetime. GTA is one of the few Western series in Japan not completely disrespected. It's no Gears or Halo.

GTA4 is much closer to release, which is why it's hype level is higher at this point, but I doubt that the 360 version of GTA4 sells more than Star Ocean 4
I think SO4 being on the 360 is also a strike against it to most of the Famitsu faithful. Japan also has Sony fanboys. It's a worldwide epidemic, or if you prefer, pandemic, though I think pandemic is a buzz word, like proactive.

they used to publish these lists with the number of voters too. usually the most voted game has a little more than a HUNDRED votes. aaaaand, we all know that back then Mother 3 was the top of the list and didn't reflect a million sales.
