Forums - Sales - The EU 360 price cut predictions for sales.

I don't think the sales will jump more then 20k for the week at most, they will then drop back down until the holiday bundles come. There has been some really great deals going around since the last 360 price cut and GTA4 launch. I doubt many people have held off purchasing the system.

I know the 360 is very popular in the UK, but apparently is less popular in other places in Europe. From your perspective as a citizen of Belgium, would you say that RROD or brand are bigger issues for people in your country vs the UK?

Also, considering the new 360 (Jasper motherboard) has a process-reduced GPU (much less power-used and heat produced), and that RROD will likely be much reduced or removed entirely, do you feel that people in Belgium will consider the 360 due to the lower price?

Well, most people I know over here (I don't know the entire population of Belgium... it's a shame, I know >_>) don't care for Xbox, no matter at what price it is.
They want PS. The brand + the games + its applications aside from gaming make it more wanted over here.

They might know about the price cut and one or two may be enticed to pick one up, but generally: most people wouldn't care.

A poll held at the largest game site about the price drop came out at 3% would now buy a xbox, some 17% would buy one if they were sponsored (i.e. someone else paying for it), everyone else didn't care for it, wanted another console.

I'm from the UK and yes i think the 360 has more users in the UK but the numbers have been dropping for a long while. Not sure what the price drop will do but i do know that saying RRoD is fixed doesn't mean it is and even if it is the specter of RRoD will always hang over the machine. I don't want one myself (i went for a 60gb Ps3) although i wouldn't mind a loan of one for a month to play the two gamers i feel im missing out on, Mass effect and crackdown.

Seems alot of people think it will do better than what I predicted. I believe although the 360 is a bigger name than PS3 in UK, as many others mentioned the rest of Europe seem to have more in line for PS3.

360 is not a bigger name then Playstation 3 in the UK. It still have the word 'Playstation' in it and Playstation at one point was even used as a term for when a kid was playing on a games console, people called a console 'Playstation' and a handheld 'Nintendo'.

Well, maybe this was just my circle of people but it happened. I do not think that power has yet been lost. If it is, it's being lost to the Wii. But then that is my opinion on it.

Hmm, pie.

it already had a pricecut and it was already cheaper than the wii...
there is going to be small bump but i doubt any serious change is going to happen

Apologies, yes, it will catch but not surpass. And yeah for a few weeks, spiking during big game and christmas.

@Crumas2

Most people I know who own a 360 own Guitar Hero in it. Heck even on bought it for it only. don't think they realised it was on PS2 and £100 cheaper at the time. :P

But you are right, it is more popular, here. And it's the only place it has any power. Wii still rules though. Best time to tell for europe is FIFA09 and PES09 time early next month for sales.

Wii seems to have more power than some small governments, but it's a freak-o'-nature.

RRoD is a thermal issue (warping of the heatsink and resulting loss of heat transfer efficiency).  Considering the new Jasper motherboards will run significantly cooler than the older ones (going from a 90nm to 65nm GPU will result in a dramatic decrease in heat), do you have a particular reason why you believe RRoD will still be an issue?  Do you have technical information you could share that would be helpful in understanding why this might still occur?

I agree with you regarding the "specter" of RRoD.  Once burned, most consumers will shy away from a product, and word-of-mouth communications is a powerful factor in purchase decisions for potential new customers.

well in wolverhampton the 360 has been selling for those prices you have stated for months and months.

crumas2, No tech info. Just that MS has said before that the problem was solved and gave the tech to the press as proof only for the problem to still be there. I'm not saying it isn't solved I'm just saying just because MS says it is doesn't mean it is.

The 360 is NOT a bigger name than Playstation in th UK. It has a bigger userbase for now thats all.
