I'm warning you though, if you've never played a Metal Gear game before, you'll be disappointed. It is best to have played them all before, even those MSX ones (you can play them on the second disk of MGS 3: Subsistence).

It's obvious you missed what's going on.......this is a combination of a shooter and a basketball game. There is someone in the crowd who has a gun, got a direct hit on his leg, and it's quite obviously being blown off, in order to stop him from getting a basket. Maybe when the player respawns, he will be watching out for the camping sniper.
